Never had a broken bone, but I understand it hurts like the dickens! My thoughts and prayers are with you, brother. Thanks to sister Candy for letting me know you were hurt.
Forget the beer matey - BRANDY (for medicinal purposes ). No doubt the physio-terrorists have started their torture treatment on you to 'mobilise' you around the ward and they've probably given you a couple of elbow crutches - no you are not allowed to have races with other patients up and down the hospital corridors
The Physical Therapists all walking around in their scrubs (some fit well) and which are basically pajamas, do provide a bit of distraction whilst excercizing to the point of pain. Couple of damn cute little rascals. I'm old enough to be their grandfather, but the male libido has not failed over time.
Well, this is my first sign-on in a week or so. Things took a bad turn last Wed and Thurs. Something felt different in the bad leg/hip and the pain was different. When my leg started swelling badly I convinced one of the docs something was wrong. Got x-ray and Cat Scan, and sure enough a piece of bone in the hip had shifted and was causing small bleeding in the muscles. So, no Physical Therapy on the bad leg til maybe next Wed, and if it's not better I won't get to go home, but will be transferred to another type (longer-term) rehab facility. CRAP! DAMMIT! Meantime I'm working like a mule on my other muscle groups, asking to do more reps or sets. Got to get them as strong as possible in the next week, so if I can go home, I can maneuver around. Telling my leg to heal itself every few minutes, drinking protein drinks twice a day. Only pain is when moving, but then it goes to a 9 out of 10 on the scale. A little depressed today, even the staff noticed it. I usually make jokes and keep them laughing about things but haven't felt like it last two days. Maybe I can start spending some time back here on Hip, to catch up with things. Hey, its good to hear from all you folks, that helped reading them. Back later, thanks. OGN
Doggone …. Sorry to hear of the set-back. Sometimes blood thinners can predispose some inadvertent bleeding near/around the femoral nerve. Will continue prayers in your behalf.
Just be careful of the Physio-terrorists matey. Some years ago, I was in hospital after having my knee joint replaced. The physio came up with this lovely bit of torture kit, strapped my ankle into this machine and switched on - it hydraulically pushed against my foot and forced my knee to bend. He told me he'd be back inside 15 minutes. He forgot all about me and went to lunch leaving me strapped to this machine for over 1 hour - I was in agony !!!
So sorry to hear about that setback, OGN. I hope the physios are kind to you, but still get you back on your feet soon.
Glad to hear from! Hope all goes well and the little bone gets taken care of and good physical therapy works!!;-)
