Why do the people in this photo look like it is so painfully awkward for them to hold hands? I just keep coming back to how weird this photo looks. It's from the G20 Summit Group photographs of the heads of the delegations of the BRICS countries. From left: President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Dilma Vana Rousseff, Prime Minister of the Republic of India Manmohan Singh, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma (RIA Novosti / Igor Russak) http://rt.com/news/g20-against-syria-strike-527/
The little Indian dude won't even touch the woman. He's holding Putin with two hands so the lady from Brazil has to hold onto Putin, too. WTF? It's like the Pope or Jesus Christ or something.
Some of it may be a result of social etiquette. In places such as India or Malaysia it is generally considered inappropriate for men to shake or hold the hand of a women when meeting or greeting in public. In India it's acceptable for men to shake hands with men. That may be the reason for the positioning in the photo.
Prime Minister of the Republic of India Manmohan Singh Prime Minister Manmohan Singh shakes hands with Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff (the one he 'missed' earlier - he isn't actually holding anybodies hand) I think the OP photo was just a bit of a botched photo' op... 'Oh right, we all are supposed to be holding hands - ooops' Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh I wouldn't read too much into the OP photo...
They are the one's who oppose the USA striking Syria. http://rt.com/news/g20-against-syria-strike-527/
Still doesn't make any sense... :/ I meant the Putin face in hand photo... 'Any action on Syria should be taken within the UN framework, and only after the UN releases the results of the chemical weapons investigation, India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stressed' Is that opposition?
They are all so uncomfortable because they are in the presence of mighty Vladimir Putin, the Russian Bear incarnate, baddest of all badasses; those poor lesser leaders are titans in their own countries but ants next to such an impressive human being. Look at him, he looks like a father having to put up with the antics of silly children when he could be getting shit done. Also, I find it funny that the female Thai prime minister shakes the hand of Indian prime minister, when in India shaking hands with women is not customary, and in Thailand shaking hands is not customary at all.
it is anatomically weird to hold hands like that when you're standing side by side especially when raised try it and you'll see
It’s unnatural for straight men to hold hands for any length of time. Shaking hands no problem, two seconds and it’s over. Hotwater
