this is the only pic I could find on the web from times of yor. Currumbin Creek in Queensland, near the NSW Border. This photo taken in 1960, so a fair bit before my time. Where I'd go for summer holidays, between say 1976 to 1985. My grandparents lived there. It didnt change much between the 1960 in that photo through to the mid 80s.....nowadays of course its just a mass of high rise apartment blocks..Ahhhh, but good memories, a great place for kids to run around in. Oh, this is in the UK forum...oh well
I was born In Wythenshawe (at home - Minsterly Parade above the shops)1960 - so about 6 years difference between me and the film -maker, but do remember so much of this 'growing up' - fond memories upon melancholy muse that so much has gone (Pubs demolished, replaced by Private housing/retail premises, fields dug up for the inserting of Motorway and 'shopping Parades' replaced by the Superstores - Ah well - "In my life"-indeed
Did anyone see that recent Mitchell & Webb series 'Back' (rubbish title)? That was filmed in my home town! I didn't even know before it aired so I was all like "That's my town!! That's the high street! Omg!" calling my parents in the ad break and they knew all about it, had watched them filming, never thought to mention to me
Did you watch my Film mate ? the canal they walked along is gone now its a field ( and it was the first Canal in England ) I used to walk where they walked but its All gone now
No, but I shall when I'm at the computer .. Sorry if I went off topic, the two above posts looked like it was involving other places people grew up and I remembered that. Bit of a tenuous connection, I see : ) It is sad losing these places. We still have the canal where I'm from but there are looooads of new houses being built all along it.
Its OK mate you Didn't go off topic ! I love to see peoples home towns there was a thread about it once on here your from Cornwall Yeah ? I like Polperro
Hey I watched it, Mallyboppa, thought it wasn't going to be my thing for a minute but really got into it actually! I'm fond of films that rely mostly on one long dialogue or scene.
