Wiki; In other words this music is about appropriating anothers creation, defiling it, then calling it your own. Call me bitter and jaded, but IMO this is illustrative of whats happened to intellectual integrity and creativity in this post-modern era.
I call you clueless Its not about defiling anything and then calling it your own (do you think the same about covers in general?). The original thing dub did, taking a reggae track and reshape it in an insrumental one with echoes and other effects while laying the focus on the riddim was a totally groovy, creative and new idea. If you read a dictionary definition like that you can not expect to suddenly 'get' this kind of music. I can imagine how it comes across after you read that but just because a dub was originally foccused on the riddim of an existing reggae track (dub has evolved since the 60's by the way) does not automatically make it have a lack of intellectual integrity or creativity at all!
