Funny but it is that empty hobby that has pushed the technological advances in computer technology for the last 20 years. If gaming wasn't so big you could very well be reading this on a 16 bit processor based system with 1 meg of ram and 256K video.
I think /. reported that this is 1-Due out last quarter of 2010 (so it's a year a way) 2-Is going to cost about 50 quid 3-IIRC will have 17 games supporting it at launch. I'm not terribly excited about this TBH, it's just an eyetoy (which is crap) crashed into a wii mote (which never really worked as well as Nintendo like us to think.) Id personally say that Sony's own eyetoy-wii mote bastard hybrid will probably have more utility as an actual games controller (you know for actual gamers, not their grans) and essentially amounts to what Nintendo tried to sell the wii-mote as doing in the first place.
But really think about it. When has nintendo been doing good in a WHILE ever since the gamecube? Ha. Exactly. Imagine if PS3 and Xbox ever put this out.. It would be amazing.. You just got to have hope in today's technology
huh? the gamecube was definitely the darkhorse of the last generation, yet had the best library hands down. meanwhile, nintendo has always cleaned up in the handheld department, and this generation, the Wii is outselling the competition so much that it's laughable. I think Wii accounts for like 50 something percent of console sales alone.
Prolly cause its cheaper and affordable. If we weren't in a recession. PS3 and Xbox would rule the world. Btw. Where is your facts? I would like to see a post that backs up your claims..
I was looking at buying my brother a WII for christmas and they are no cheaper over here (UK) than the xbox. I can honestly say there are some amazing games for the WII that you wouldn't see on any other platform (super paper mario for example) but I haven't fired mine up for months, PS3 wins out every time.
Prolly not, because their library is uninspired, and nintendo has been making amazing games for as long as they have been around. lol ok http://www.vgchartz.com/ Wii sales account for 48.6% of console sales to be precise and DS is stomping PSP flat at 68.3% of handheld sales
Since when did hardware makers define the library? If you limited console games libraries to first party developers only then each console would only have a dozen games. There is an awful lot of chaff in the Wii games library, things that should be little more than simple flash games given a gimmicky interface and a disk of there own. I'm very much of the opinion that the WII is everyone's 2nd console, although this may only be true for gamers.
A real gamer is someone who goes for the real deal and not some fucked up console machine people try to sell because they ain't really got no good ideas. Ha.
PC's are the best for gaming by far. You have alot more versatility with a PC than you do with a console. The main benefit you get with a console is the dedicated hardware. Because it is only using one specific processor and one specific graphics chipset the software can be tweeked and optimized for that hardware. But eyecandy isn't everything. PC's enable the game designers to do a lot more with the game and controls then can ever be achieved on a console. They can essentialy build a bigger, more in depth game. Any pc to console port I have seen has been drastically cut as far as content and dumbed down as far as interface and controls. I have played a few games on both PC and console and in my opinion PC's win hands down. The only exception to that I have seen is some sports games, but the differences aren't that great. But for my favorite genres of RTS and RPG games, consoles bite, PC's rule. If you disagree take it up with my 28th level Red Dragon Disciple.. Valdemar Draconian
I don't understand the question. RTS Real Time Strategy Like the Age of Empires series or Starcraft or Company of Heroes, the list goes on and on. RPG Role Playing Games You know like NeverWinter Nights that the picture is from or Oblivion or Fallout 3. You are familier with those games aren't you?
oh yeah I just like my strategy and RPG games on consoles, almost always unless you specifically meant Western RPGs, and if you did then I would agree
Have you ever played any of the ones I've mentioned or any other "western" RPG's on a PC and a console? The depth of gameplay simply can't be matched on a console when the developers have multiple gigabytes of hard drive space for game content and saved games. Ever hear of a game called The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall? That game world was fucking HUGE. I played it for over a year before even starting on the main quests and hardly covered the same area more than once. It had literally hundreds upon hundreds of cities with enormous expanses of wilderness between full of ruins, caves, castles, crypts, etc., etc. And the cities were often very large and fully populated. You could make your own notations on the map. Buildings were mapped in 3-d so you could see where you were relative to x-y-z axis. That type of breadth just isn't possible on a console. If you like arcady type RPG's I guess a console is fine, but then is it really a true role playing game?
