look at this picture, look at the expressions on their face tell me what you see. Iranian woman arrested for wearing a red coat.
I'm pretty sure that Iranians didn't have a lot of freedom to begin with. At least, not since 1979 or so.
Indeed. Even though I think most of us here agree that we should have the freedom to wear any color of clothing we wish, don't fool yourself by thinking that us westerners have so much freedom.
Because we're social animals and tend to do whatever the people around us are doing. It's also easier to belong to society than it is to drop out, so most people don't do it.
You don't even really have to follow the law if you don't want to. It's just a matter of if you get caught or not.
Over here in the Netherlands I can't just claim a piece of unused land and go live there. It all belongs to a person or the state. Yes, it is easier to belong to society, but that is because alternatives are either really hard, impossible or against the law. Where is the freedom in that?
Yeah, that too. Sometimes I think that people would only admit they're free if they didn't have to work, were handed absolutely everything for free, and were given all of the opportunities without ever actually studying or working towards their goals. It really isn't hard to be free if you're creative and willing to make some sacrifices... but people don't want to make the sacrifices.
Law's are made to be broken. That and what was fine yesterday, Is now a felony today. I do all I can to buck the system and always will. I was taught to be a leader, Not a follower and if it involves bending a few laws or breaking, So be it. Plus, Im an Ameri-can, Not Ameri-can't. I can do with out any of them.
Some people would say that forcing rich people to sell their land is violating their freedom. They 'worked hard' to buy all of that and now you want to take it away from them? I'm sure if you moved to Greenland you would find a lot of places where no one would care if you wanted to live there.
