Tough to say... many office holders will profess devout Christianity to gull impressionable "fundies" (fundamentalist Christians) into voting for them but the deeds perpetrated by our federal government do not reflect that actions of people who feel morally bound to ant set of ethics espoused by any Christian sect- at least to the extent that I'm familiar. As scratcho observed, they all claim to be... though the only time I've observed any evidence of devoutness apart from campaigning was when a local mayor faced corruption charges and was ambush-interviewed a number of years ago on Ash Wednesday... he had the biggest, most conspicuous ash mark on his forehead... I was hoping it would serve as a bullseye for a skilled marksman with a rifle. Of course he insisted he was innocent. I think he's out of prison now.
So do 99% of all the lying, social climbing cunts globally who claim to be Christian. Christian is synonymous with nice, admirable, and that word that grates most on my nerves, "decent." uke:
The choir is but a small percentage of the church, let alone the religion... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Hz2PEny-0M"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Hz2PEny-0M My theme song, and the story of my life....
My point was that I'm already convinced and scratcho appears to be as well.... so I felt the reply had a bit of double twist to it... intimating that I need no convincing as to the profound evil that my country's government embodies- that being the "religion" that you're preaching... and the allusion to traditional components of a typical Christian church, as an avowed disparager of all things Christian, you might appreciate the dry humor (or humour, if you are more comfortable seeing that spelling) in my selection of that particular metaphor.
One can't be too careful on an American cyber forum. Most Americans insist politics and religion are two different things in the patent theocracy they live in. :2thumbsup:
Well- I see religion as part of politics more than seeing the two concepts as being interchangeable. Again, religion is just one tool of mass manipulation that exists within the skilled politician's arsenal.... but I doubt that many of the politicians out there are truly religious but it is VERY important that they be seen as such by 'merkins who are. There are few methods as effective as church based Christianity to effect group reasoning (or lack thereof) on enough of the voting population to furnish a certain degree of immunity provided the military and economic schemes go off without a hitch. Domestically, the problem is that, for their purposes, too many people got fucked too quickly by the housing bubble fueled collapse here... it's not that they particularly give a flying fuck about the American bourgeois but if enough get sufficiently pissed at once it can create trouble with their ability to fund and prosecute their illegal wars and economic "ventures" for corporate purposes in one form or another. At best it's a cult... or operates like one- where the cult leader class does not really believe the ideals that it professes to live by... but by adopting the label shared by a fair majority of those who will cast ballots on a regular basis they enjoy the presumption of ethics for which their actions reflect true contempt. Begin to look at them, not only as flawed humans, but with a moral code so fatally diseased by a contaminating flood of money and power that they do not even look at us regular folks as people as much as they do cattle. Their behavior begins to really make sense when I accept the premise that what I hold in my wallet, they consider to be theirs already.... and what my opinion may be of it is of little concern to them beyond how they think they can manipulate and/or confuse facts in order to make as many of my peers as possible think they're doing right to make it difficult for the observant minority vocally to adopt a dissenting view. Christianity has the swell side effect of closing minds.
Not that it is particularly funny but in many ways this is a third Bush term. Executive power, secrecy, and the continued erosion of freedoms in the guise of prudent national defense are still the order of the day.
I believe every U.S. administration since the one of that snobbish Calvinazi ****, George WASPington, has been a Bush administration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Zqbz563pNQ"]YouTube - Hello America
You know, I roomed with a Tazzie in Melbourne for a piece. Seems they deal with indigenous difficulties by walking abreast cross the island shooting everything that moves. That European proprietary model was inherited by Australia also.
I disagree. The problem with that is, in truthful terms, to exaggerate a little is to exaggerate a lot, consequently we can file it as hysterical.
Of which I am well aware and I am first in line to condemn. Truth is I have less respect for my lickspittle country's proclivity to suck a Seppo arse whenever it sees one than I have for your country. In Carlton no doubt. BTW, Tasmaniacs are known as "twin-heads" on the mainland. This is due to the end result of their communal addiction for using their baby sisters for beef bayonet practice.
That's funny. There is a meanness in this land that was contained and not so apparent prior to Bush or 9-11. At least there was semblance of compromise. Of course when everything is at stake, anything goes. If not initially designed by the government then "war on terror" surely was an opportunity for a radical power grab.
