I think a change of plans can sometimes be a really good thing. It will still allow that side of you that loves nature to be around it. If at some point in the future you decided to instead do something else it would give you an income that would make that easier for you.
I've been working for the government for 12 years now so I already have to deal with the bureaucracy and having a successful relationship while moving around a lot, so that kind of thing wouldn't really change for me. I have several law enforcement Park Ranger friends though that have families. A lot of it depends on what park you work at. At Crater Lake for instance or the Oregon Caves there is pretty much zero crime. At bigger parks, obviously it would be much bigger of a deal. And lots of law enforcement rangers are not stereotypical 'cop-types'. Either way, the first step would be to try and get into the Park Ranger training and I might not even get accepted anyway.
Your next post is about stealing weeds sounds like that's what happened to you in that situation. Glad no trouble came of it and maybe the ranger needed a toke break lol Also go for the park ranger position. More heady people doing that job is needed too many ate more like regular bs militarized police and don't show enough respect for environment
It was my boyfriends fault about the weed... we live in Humboldt county so he is used to just being able to leave it lying around and no one worries about it, so he just left it on the front seat of the car and the ranger came by to check our fishing licenses and the bag was just hanging out there. He was even like, "I don't want to have to do this, but I can't pretend I don't see that bag just lying there"
