I thinking of including garlic in my diet, since I hear from many different sources that it's so healthy. I think I might just take it three times a week, since I already have a otherwise balanced diet, and I don't to rank of it in certain social situations. But if I already take sources of antioxidants in my diet, do I really need garlic? In spite of reading many times that the recommended amount of daily garlic to be one clove, that seems far too strong and intense for me to take. I think I might go with a just a quarter of a clove. But even that feels too strong! But I also hear it's toxic. You can feel it in your sinuses for a few minutes afterwards, and in your burps for a few hours afterwards. I think it must be the only food that has components that penetrate all barriers in the body and be smelled afterwards. It also thins the blood like warfarin. The very fact that it can be used to kill microbes, and deter insects makes me think that it might be bad!!
incorporate it in to recipes, dont just down it whole... add it to salad dressings, soups, sauces etc
Garlic is like an essential culinary element for me, I would suffer if I couldn't have garlic. Though eating a clove of raw garlic would be a little extreme for me, I can easily consume more than a clove a day of roasted or saute garlic with other foods like potatoes, pasta, eggs, soup, fish, chili, stir fry...lol it would be easier to give a list of things garlic doesn't go good with!
this is why its good for you, its anti bacterial and anti viral there are ways to eat raw garlic without eating a whole plain clove. You can mince it and sprinkle it on a salad or any other kind of food for that matter
True, I do mince raw garlic in guacamole, and sometimes that and olive oil to doctor up a bland soup.
Wow, with that many fears roaming around inside your head, are you sure it's safe to come out from under the covers? Worrying about minutia like that will do more harm to your body and mind than eating 1,000 cloves of raw garlic. I can appreciate wanting too take control of your diet, but there seems to be an air of paranoia present in your posts. Nutrition and paranoia.......you and Pressed Rat should get along perfectly. Drinking too much water can kill you, so be careful. I eat at least one-two cloves of garlic a day incorporated into various dishes. Raw garlic is good also. As far as nasty smells go, nothing compares to the breath and body-odor of a Vietnamese person who daily consumes fermented cabbage and garlic, Kimchi, almost impossible to speak with them the smell is so powerful and nasty. It is tasty and nutritious, but good lord does it turn into some godawful odors in the human body. :ack2:
