I think you misunderstood what I meant. I was saying that just because something is offensive doesn't mean it's funny. Rather, Carlin understands that any subject can be funny if set up the right way. Anyone who takes personal offense to something just because it's about a certain subject such as rape or suicide without being able to interpret the context is taking themselves too seriously and deserve to be offended.
