I know, right. The best of players, and the worst of audiences. If I were in charge, I'd hire bouncers to eject (roughly) the bastards who sound like cows giving birth and having a rough go of it. PLUS force them to AA meetings.

I think I liked it tbh. Being a pool player myself mostly out of pub venues, I know what it's like to be put off by crowds and drunks it's just apart of the game, whereas snook you have to be dead quiet and I dunno, bit fancy hehe.

This year's snooker masters was a bit more entertaining with the crowd but still the adjudicator had to tell people to be quiet.

I take a more harsh stance. In fact, forget what I said about having bouncers there. After giving it more thought, I propose tranquilizing them with tranquilizer darts from a rifle; probably cheaper than hiring bouncers.

It's all about the atmosphere for me. I do plan on going to the German Open snooker championships one day as a spectator, hopefully a competitor too one day. I'm hoping by the time I am 40yo I will have enough talent on the tables to go to these things as a participant.

And I hope to one day attend the Mosconi Cup championships in Europe . . . as a god damned bouncer. They wouldn't even have to pay me. In fact, I'd pay them to let me do my thing.

You'll have to bounce me then, because I want to be there for you. :p Oooorope, Oooorope! Oooorope! :p

Jesus, I noticed that I put "looses" instead if "loses" in my post. That is one of those words that I always need to pause and think about before spelling it out. Like desserts/deserts. That one I can usually remember because I once saw a meme that said "stressed is just desserts spelled backwards."

Anyway--what do you like about the darker days? I find they make me lose some motivation--I still do the things I need to do, but it is more of a battle, that is for sure.

  9. It gets really, really tiring.
Once you take a step back, you realize how ridiculous it is, and how blinded and poisoned with nationalism people are. Nationalism is truly the opium of people.
Especially in silly countries like this one is, and especially considering the last war.
There were other solutions. At the start of the war they even got rid of their own who suggested that. People who dared to speak up. Killed by "their own". Just that should tell people that it's been decided already, they just need to convince the lil pawns. So, enter nationalism.
Lives were taken for nothing, really.
Lives were destroyed, and houses bombed.
Some people got very rich though.
And they keep taking from people, while people are blinded and busy hating *insertwhatevernation*.
Wars happen because of money. Money that no one from us will ever see and enjoy.
Like for example, you hear how all these Serb and Croatian war generals and war criminals become good friends in the Hague prison.
They don't hate each other. They talk and play chess and exchange books and whatnot. You hear how they become friends and how they respect each other.
Why? Because they know it was all just bullshit.

It irks me when I read "such and such is a looser" :p
I remember a guy in school, wrote on the wall one day "such and such sux dogg dick" and I said are you serious? and he said "what" and I said you don't know how to spell dog? lol he seriously thought it was dogg, too much rap music for that guy. He was one those kids who just messed around in trouble a lot.

I agree about Nationalism. It proves time and time again to a toxic ideology.

I can understand appreciating and enjoying your cultural traditions and customs, and being grateful to be born into the culture that you were born into--but as Drifttrue said, one must realize that it is merely an accident of birth.

George Carlin said it astutely, as always:

“Pride should be reserved for something you achieve or obtain on your own, not something that happens by accident of birth. Being Irish isn't a skill... it's a fucking genetic accident. You wouldn't say I'm proud to be 5'11"; I'm proud to have a pre-disposition for colon cancer.”

Nationalism often does keep people from thinking clearly

I find it a really frustrating thing in the US. People can be very black and white thinkers here

After reading 3 pages in this thread of someone basically repeating "the sun never sets on the British Empire" over and over again, I suspect you're right

I just like darkness and night. So if darkness comes early for a certain time of year, i am perfectly happy with that. I look forward to the changes of both dark and bright days. I feel more energized, and alive when night comes. I just don't like the cold that comes with it in this area. You do not like to be out at night? Like if it were warmer, would you like the darker days then?

In La Digue Island, Seychelles, they don't have much lightening. So once the sun sets it gets very dark quickly. Pitch black in many areas. I enjoyed walking around at that time. Less light pollution also makes the moon and stars much more visible. A beautiful sight. I also find some thrill in roaming around unknown places after dark. While finding darkness in itself calming and soothing.

I'm a little dyslexic so for me i often catch myself reading words wrong.

darkness has its benefits, but light has way more. the amount of darkness in the summer is plenty for me.
