Then, in the silence, I wonder if anyone cares. Go figure ...

 

I have one person who asks me if I'm okay all the time, who isn't okay herself, and let me tell you, it's the most wickedly annoying thing I have ever experienced.

 

Just curious, what's wrong with someone asking ''are you okay?'' I guess if it's repetitive, it would be irritating. Maybe even insulting?

 

maybe, it is the presumption that something actually is not OK

It isn't easy the first few times - but I soon saw we sort of respond the same way. The not knowing what to say next look is there almost every time!

I think what it is, is that they demand a lie. They want you to say everything's great. Next time someone asks me if I'm okay, I'm going to tell them I'm contemplating homicide. If you can't fucking handle it, don't fucking ask.

 

I wonder if people really care when they ask, though. Kind of like ''how are you?'' But, the person asking really doesn't want to hear a full on dissertation of how you actually are.

We all do it, almost like a reflex reaction...''hey, how are you?''

 

it's more a courtesy greeting as opposed to asking about the results of your last physical

 

Well, we should all start sharing exactly how we are when asked. If the person hasn't run away by then.

I have no problem with "How are you?" It's polite, minding your own business. I'f prefer if it were a casual greeting. "Are you okay?" is totally rude and invasive.

 

My life is an existentialist nightmare. No, don't laugh, I'm not being funny. In fact, fuck off. I'd rather be alone.

 

Maybe I'll switch it up tomorrow...ask those I meet ''hi...are you okay?''
