The US military is equal to the next six to sixteen largest combined. We pay half the bills for NATO and the UN because we own the fucking world and routinely rake in half the Nobel Prizes and Olympic Medals. We are the third largest population in the world, and the Chinese don't stand a chance. Even their electronics assembly industry is about to be entirely automated, and the tariffs are crippling their economy. When the world economy collapsed the last time, the US came out smelling like a rose in comparison to every other economy, because we sell 40% of the world's weapons.

In technology alone, the EU is at least twenty years behind the US and China is half a century. They have lots of talented minds, but they have only entered the modern world within the last half century. They don't even have the toys required to figure out how to catch up with the US which is about to dominate AI and quantum computing as well.

I'm a military brat with two fathers in the navy and countless other relatives. Until you've seen the Pentagon, Crystal City, CIA, and NSA you have no clue what you are talking about. The Pentagon alone spends more money in a year than the average country makes, and has been doing so for about 75 years. I'm also an expert on Asian philosophy and culture, and they don't stand a chance. They are lucky their government just recently decided it was time to clean up their environment, because they were dying by the droves from air pollution in particular.

The Chinese are about as likely to become aggressive as a dog with no teeth and no legs. Other than their Navy and some high tech missiles and assorted odds and ends, they have nothing. The US manufactures an enormous variety of weapons. Some countries are famous for their AK47 or whatever, but we make it all and sell more than anyone, because we make whatever sells. China makes cellphones nobody will buy and steals all the technology they can get their hot hands on, because they are desperately behind everyone else and know it.

 

Take a wild guess where all the electronics parts are made for ALL computers, and hightech gadgets... Even all the bits and pieces in our military gear.

 

Intel is the 800lb gorilla to beat, with even their 14nm chips still beating out AMD's newest 7nm ones. Samsung recently became the largest chip manufacturer in the world, but only briefly. Intel simply cannot make their chips fast enough and their real expertise is making record profits year after year. The Chinese make ARM chips, because they are cheap, but nobody wants their ARM chips with the tariffs in place. The newest ARM chip released is creating a stir, because it happens to match Intel's two year old i5, even though the i5 is on 14nm and the newest ARM is on 7nm. Intel is essentially four years or more ahead of all the competition, while IBM is working for the government as well. By now they should have reached their goal of squeezing roughly as many neurons as a cat or human inside a coffee can. Their liquid quantum computer is perhaps the most outrageous design ever, while Microsoft has invested all their research into topological quantum computing.

The only thing quantum the Chinese are known for, is their analog circuitry, which is quite good, but no match for the US. Even their fpga circuits are lucky to be average. They're a big country and can do all sorts of impressive things, but fighting the US is not an option. They gave us hell along with the Russians in Vietnam, but we would do the same if the Chinese invaded Mexico.

I did answer the question. Those parts come from wherever we want to make them. They used to come from China, but not anymore. If you want a cheap cellphone, you may have to wait a few years. Intel has fabs everywhere, including Israel and other countries, while Samsung and Sony can and do build their own fabs as well. The only thing special about the Chinese making them was they were a one stop shop for cheap electronics until now. Nobody but the Chinese will even buy their own cellphones.

Perhaps the biggest impact for the immediate future, is power supplies will be in short supply. The US was also using Chinese rare earths, but we have our own deposits and can open the mines again. We save limited resources for wartime usually, even if we have a shitload. All the oil drilling and US exports in recent decades reflect the fact oil is about to become worthless, and they want to sell a bunch before it does.

LOL, that's the kind of crap engineers do all the time, because they get paid crap. In electronics, companies like Sony sell cheaper products under a different name, and they have all the green engineers in the basement slapping together cheap parts in every way imaginable as fast as they can to see what happens. Once in a while, they get a boom box or whatever that lasts forever just by accident.
