When you're having a bad day and a good friend reaches out and lets you know they're thinking about you. This seems to happen a lot, my friends and I are horrible at keeping in touch (just because life is busy) but they somehow seem to always intuitively know when I need to hear from them
For some reason the other day I used the word "finna" in a post and I laughed. And I used to like use this word all the time as a teen in texts. So I texted my wife if she wanna finna go do something. And she replied "finna, makes my heart melt" and I said yeah I thought you'd like it. I don't even know what it means but I always thought it like are going to, will you do this, want to do this. Are you finna do that, we finna go out, I'm finna do that. A good nostalgic moment and something so simple to let your missus know how much you mean to her by bringing up the so far seemingly away past and knowing your bond is still as strong as it ever was.
yeah, it's just the ebonics version of gonna. for years i just thought it was a random word made up solely to confuse white people, but just in the last few weeks it occurred to me that it might actually be short for "fixing to." or it might still just be made up to confuse white people.
A funny story surrounding that when I was a teen is I of course picked the word up from ICP. and I used to send it to her like I said. On the Nokia.. 3310??? when using the keypad auto spell, when you wanted to spell "don't" it always came up as "foot" first and she used to send that to me. "foot do this, foot do that" and I was like "cool so we have our own words here, I say finna and you say foot???" and then she told me about the auto correct. Now up until that point i was button bashing the keypad and not auto spelling so I didn't understand. because it was stupid, and i'm glad she fixed that up.
Those first few warm days of spring--they always seem to arrive just as you've given up hope that winter will ever end.
Sitting Here In The Warm Watching The Rain Tumble Down With My Big Pussie With His Head Resting On My Wrist..... Cheers Glen.
