i don't "get" what people think they expect to "get" out of trying to impress each other,
by anything other then, what they can make themselves, with their own hands and their own imaginations.

There are three stoves: a glass stove, a brick stove, and a wood stove. You only have one match. Which do you light up first?

well once you get a fire going, you can always light another from it. this is one of those silly things like touching the ceiling with the handle of a broom. obviously glass and brick don't burn so well from the flame of one match. unless the glass and the brick just look like a stove, if there's wood in them, they're all "wood" stoves. actually what you light first is a wad of old paper and then kindling, as anyone who has ever lived with wood heat (or the old kind of heavy oil heaters too) could tell you or just do so, without even having to think about it. the major thing about fires, is keeping them away from things you don't want them to burn. and like making sure there isn't anything burnable too close. which is the whole point of the stove, to isolate the burning from where its not wanted.

Men over the age of 18 who think this is a good look for the truck. I know free speech and all that but it's so stupid. Also it seems like it would make your truck into one that females don't want to ride in. So shouldn't you keep the nuts in your pants?

the human obsession with perceiving the unfamiliar as harmful or more dangerous then the familiar which statistically has proven consistently, however counter intuitively, the exact opposite.
and even the intuitive, is a cultural variable in this context.

well i think the thing with that, is whenever someone first becomes big, then everyone wants to get on their bandwagon, and then when their first blush starts to fade, then you get this bandwagon of hating them comes along. and i don't mean really everyone everyone. what i mean are people who don't really think about anything but its kind of a reflex, its kind of what the whole exagerated thing of celebraty is, you get this, and these are the same people who think they'll get something out of authoritarian tyranny and voted for trump because they thought he have a piss about them. its a problem with when you get a culture that places a low value on logic or paying attention and doing your own thinking. and i mention these other examples because its not an isolated thing. you see it in entertainment but you also see it in politics and even in religion. and of course people, you know, its an ego thing, so no one wants to admit it.

so i recognize it. i see it. but a can't or won't or don't in any way claim to really understand it. because i don't see that as a built into the species. its something that comes from how people grow up, or not really grow up, but i mean age out of childhood so to speak, from the perceptions of their parents, and sometimes the perspectives they're taught in school as well.
