The expression 'fashionably late.' I never understood what was 'fashionable' about it. Sure was a pain in the rear for the one planning the party.

Yep! And I don’t know why I wasn’t paying attention when I first walked in there to see if it had tp- that’s what I usually do. I got complacent .
In Brooklyn NY, when inquiring about one person, we'd say 'youse' as in 'How are youse doin' ?' But my boyfriends' mother used to ask if we had enjoyed something by asking: 'Did yizzez have a good time tonight?' By using 'yizzez' we knew she was asking about both of us, rather than just one. Kept things clear, efficient & concise.
