So where I live we have a deposit on cans and bottles like soda and such...so a customer comes in yesterday to return some bottles and says to me..... Excuse me but can you remove the bottle deposit off my order because these are cans not bottles..... Oh my it took a lot for me to not laugh but it made my day lmao wanted to share with you all!
That's Funny! Years ago I worked at a Gift Shop on Main St, Saint Thomas in the USVI. The UNITED STATE VIRGIN ISLANDS... People would stumble off a cruise ship and wander in asking "do you speak English?" slowly and LOUDLY which of course made us all sigh. Then they would ask if we would accept US Dollars.... m reaction was and still is, "Who Doesn't Want Dollars?"
Yeah I am a manger at a local Hannafords grocery store and some of the things I see oh my lol and of course I manage the checkouts and customer service so I see all kinds lmao and really wanted to start this thread to see what others In retail experience
I work at a ShopRite here in CT. We have senior discounts on Tuesdays and our annual Can Can Sale. Does Hannaford use club cards? I know they didn't before, but that was before their parent company became a "sister" to Stop & Shop (Ahold, USA). I use to visit the Brattleboro store on US Route 5 all the time.
Not really cards anymore they do have the membership but it's an app now and u just use your phone number in store
Most customers give their phone number here if they don't have their card on them. The one major no-no is that I, the cashier, can NOT enter my own phone or card number. If they need a card, go see customer service first.
Yes same way at my store that can definitely get you fired! But at our store everyone gets the sale price even without a card! You just get coupons for free items and employees get 10 percent cash back every 3 months for what we spent
Damn! Wakefern (parent of ShopRite) doesn't even give us a discount! It might be because we're a private franchisee with 8 of their stores. Also, we were open on Thanksgiving from 7-2 when some other ShopRite stores were closed.
I used to work for Shoprite when I was a teen. Also runned by Wakefern. They are very cheap when it comes to employees.
That's is the one thing I can't complain about with my store they pay well and they really do treat there employees really well!
Years ago when my wife was 18 or so she worked at a local independent pharmacy in the city, old Jewish establishment. One day this guy walks in and slapped a personal check down on the counter and asked her to cash it. So she asks for personal I.D. and the guy says, "I don't need I.D., I'm Steven Reed!" She replies, "Well I'm Blank Blank and I don't care who you are I need to see your I.D." The guy gets real mad and says, "Where's Nate, I need to see Nate!" (the owner) So Nate walks out chomping on an old De Nobili cigar and laughs saying, "He's okay." Turns out he was one of the most prominent lawyers in the city and was elected mayor shortly after!
Our local franchisee doesn't give an employee discount. Just sayin'. Stop & Shop gave us 5% when I was there (and still does, per a couple former coworkers). Walmart gave me 10% before that. Now Can Can this s--- s--- stop stop?
