They Found Jesus' Body!!!

I guess I'm a little ignorant, but what's the harm to Christianity if Jesus WAS found? I think this would strengthen Xtians faith b/c it proves that not only was Jesus god, as they believe, but he was still flesh and blood! If scientists found the historical Buddha's body, I would be estatic!

Now first off I agree that we want to take a look at the new documentary (hoaxumentary?) but yes lets give it a fair showing first.

Having said that, we have actually had problems in the past with people 'jumping to conclusions' about various artifacts and relics.
It doesnt mean they are just outright 'fakes' or not worthy of some importance either.
But,
This one is a problem on many different levels and in fact it has some serious problems if you DO ACCEPT this is the actual Jesus.
One of them;
If this was Jesus Christs actual tomb and he really did get buried along with his family, in public, to anyones knowledge at the time..... then how the 'H' does a public figure like this get to India, teach Buddhism and further question is how a whole movement is growing that is claiming he is resurrected and ascended or writing all these fake stories about him while he and his wife and mum are walking around Jerusalem?
I mean seriously... do you see where, if you accept this as Jesus bones creates huge problems for YOUR belief about Jesus?
Those denying him as Christ have to call this whole think highly unlikely as well as those who think he did Ascend.

btw.. its a credit to Christians in general nowadays that so many are being very careful and critical in examinging this again.
Its what we want to see - critical thinking, healthy skeptisism and reasonable examination in light of other evidence and likelyhoods.

Thats a helluva lot better place to start than seeing something like this and running off declaring its 'proven' they found Jesus teeth.

 

What documented history are you talking about? Because there is a lot of documentation that now supports many of the Biblical accounts. Yet the non-believers on this forum are not interested in seeing any of that. And Christians don't have a problem with dinosaur fossils, we just have a problem when supporters of Evolution who claim there are trans-species, but can't find any of them in the fossil record. Maybe you guys should consider your own planet, some place where you can seed the ground with fake fossils to support your fake theory.

 

I think its hilarious people keep talking about Constantine without realising that we could literally throw Nicea out the window, remove anything after it and pretend we never heard of it and we would still be 100% able to compile our New Testament from all other sources BEFORE Nicea.
And guess what.... the NT would be word-for-word exactly the same.

I cant believe people can know who Constantine is... yet have seemingly no clue whatsover about the million other sources and references for our NT.

The Biblical account states that Christ was raised from the dead. I believe the Bible you donot. You believe the men who told the story are all liars, I donot.
If Jesus was not raised from the dead, then the Bible would be a Book of lies.
The Bible is a Book of truth, this world hates that truth, and will oppose it just as the Bible said they would. Skip, there is no such apparent anomalie of a dead Savior, and the only place you will find a dead Christian Savior is in your own mind.

Yeah, keep backtracking toward the truth. Maybe 500 years from now, your understanding will have advanced to the level of 21st Century science, but then I probably overestimate.

 

I agree that the number #1 reason for the pure venomous hatred here is that people hate the truth.
Heck I hate the truth too.
That Bible becomes both the most comforting work on earth.... and its the same thing that will shine a bright light on me and I will cringe.
Because that light exposes all.

And that leads me to another truth from Jesus when he called himself a 'double-edged sword'.
The context has nothign to do with physical war etc.... its a picture of what Jesus Gospel will actualy do to us.

The story of the sun being the center of the universe was a lie pushed by a French Atheist who tried to hang it on the early church fathers in order to make Christians look bad. That lie is still pushed on line here, but has been revealed to be more of an urban legend.

As to documented history, Constantine and the Council of Nicea, I've posted this before with links to reputable sources to include vatican historians. The bible was gathered and edited by a group of "learned men" and stamped by the first, self-appointed pope. It was edited from a gathered work much, much larger than what is in use today. It was 1700 years ago and you can't prove that they didn't make it up out of whole cloth any more than I can prove that they did. You just believe they didn't. But you can't prove it.

Show me a copy signed by God and you will have successfully converted me. I will go forth, preach the Gospel, sin no more and give up my life of pornography, gambling and alcohol. Until then, it's not really the "Word of God". It's the words of men, accounts and stories by men, chosen and edited by men in a form they thought God would approve.

Fiction. DaVinci Code was a work of fiction. Though much less entertaining, just like the bible it was fiction. Though they both contained some historical facts, the story line is FICTION. So what's to debunk?
