if strong is saying "i want to be killed by a crazy mother fucker with an AK-47 or a bazooka in a dry heat!" then...i'm sorry, but that's FUCKING CRAZY! that's like bear grylls crazy...if anyone knows who bear grylls is...then they know what i'm talking about...that is fucked up. ROYALLY!
I would still like to know what a lot of you are doing to change the world? How you are putting in more effort to solve things with peace rather than violence? My grandfather is retired airforce, my uncle just got put to rest in fort rosecrans and my boyfriend has been in for 8 years. All three of them are very nice, non-violent, not the least bit lazy and incredibley smart. Also, my grandpa's military pension is more than most of you will make in your entire lives and he did not have a college degree when he went in-the military paid him to go to school. My grandma never HAD to work a day in her life and my mom and uncles went on incredible vacations and never went without a thing. My unlce made more in the military as he did as a civilian and my boyfriend does pretty damn well for himself too and makes far more than people I have dated in the past who bash the military yet are too lazy to do anything but talk about peace and listen to the grateful dead while they sell out to consumeristic, greedy overseas manufactured america while wearing a suit to their place of enslavement. So think before you speak, because most of you have no idea what you are talking about and there are people on these forums who have lost relatives in the Iraq and don't appreciatte your comments of apathy and laziness. At least Switzerland makes good chocolate-what the fuck do you all do?
hey. my baby sister, my pretty little baby sister (not the sharpest tool in the shed, but generous to a fault) is in the SeaBees. she's deploying to fallujah in november. she's a sucker, she's naive, she's generous to a degree of embarassment and full of love of life and poeple. she wants to rebuild, which is why she's a SeaBee. i love her more than words can say. my oldest brother was a medic, my next brother was a fireman. my father smuggled refugees out of any number of terrible situations. not everyone military is evil. some just actually believe they're "fighting for your freedom." i hate that phrase. i hate that so much. but i don't buy for one second that the military is all evil and that pacifism is all good.
What did I do? Simple...I didn't join the armed services. The men on my Mother's side of the family were/are practically all in one branch or another. I don't feel one way or the other about their choices. They and everyone else in the military need to know that they don't speak or act for me. Having family in the military doesn't make you saint.
so you did not join the military...that is what you do to take an active role in achieving peace? I don't know what to even say to that. Are you married? Does your wife respect you despite of your lack of contribution to the world? No, but working at non-profits full-time and volunteering since I was 15 for causes I believe in makes me active. I feel guilty for not joining the military or the peace corps and I think it's my responsibility to find other ways to contribute.
you're not responding because you know you use peace as an excuse to bash people who can do what you can't. I am all for peace and do not believe we should have started this war, but I am not so disrespectful to blame the military and I activley work hard to change society. You do neither. I am really flying off here and maybe it's because I am on my period, but my pet peeve is people who waste space on this planet and do nothing to improve it. Stop being a space waster please and get off your ass and do something.
I appreciate those who serve in the military interested in peace. However, I do not think the current war is conducive to lasting peace. Fight them; we're infidels and deserve to die. Do not fight them; we're pussies and deserve to die. Damned whether we do or don't, I'd pull out, save a few hundred billion dollars.
Some of us spent 13 years in uniform in non-combat roles because we disagree with the concept of war but wanted to support our country. Some of us spend 10-12 hours each day repairing homes for people who live below the poverty level. Then spend some of our weekends maintaining shelters and soup kitchens that serve the homeless. Some of us spend most of our money and free time trying to nurse sick animals back to health after some moron and his moron parents neglected/starved/burned them. Some of us like to spend a little time each month supporting causes like breast cancer and AIDS research, human rights and dignity, animal rights and freedom in places like Tibet. Actually that would be me. Some of you need to learn to be nice. Some of you need to either respect that some people have opinions that differ from your own or learn to ignore the trolls and haters. But that would just be my opinion and you're sure to slag me if you disagree. And that's cool.
In fact, that's pretty much all you gotta do to achieve peace. That's the greatest thing about it...you don't have to do anything to get there. No I am not married. Would I have to save the world from everything to get a woman to respect me? I've never actually met a woman that was capable of respecting anyone, but that's a whole other issue. Working for non-profits doesn't make you any better than than anyone else. Are you better than a welder, banker, homemaker, roofer or truckdriver? Get off your high horse. Working at my craft and doing volunteer work for river clean up is how I contribute. I give to the Red Cross every year in hopes that some of those civilians we're maiming can have a clean bandage or two. Will those things bring peace to the world? Nope. It's just some stuff I do. You last comment sounds like a lot of other people I know. They REALLY support the troops, yet have NEVER SERVED. I'll give you the same advice I give them...you're still young and the military is ALWAYS looking for people. It's not to late for you to join if you feel so strongly about it. You have your opinion and I respect your right to have it so.... Do we agree to disagree?
I don't think women should be allowed in the military to be honest and I am not just saying that to cover my ass in this argument.
I did respond. Who says I couldn't do what they do? When did I balme the military for anything? I do a lot. Read my previous post. Don't blame your monthly. That's a cop out. I don't like space wasters either. I do my share. Again, see my previous post. And chill out a little, it's just Hip Forums.
That is sad. I have been with guys I don't respect before and I was awful to them and regret making them suffer and not leaving them sooner. When I am with someone I respect I have heard from someone in the past that I should let the secret out that women like me still exist. That's the problem with relationships now. Men for some reason don't act like freaking men anymore and women act like power hungry wild animals with no expectations of meing treated well and no boundaries as to how they will let men treat them. It's rather sick and I get what you are saying.
I know. I am seriously just on my period...this is why women should not be allowed to join the military-women like me anyway. I should not have access to a gun or important information because I am a hormonal nutcase.
the majority of my friends have joined - at one time, i was going to join...things happened and i learned things and changed my mind. i had the papers in my hand, but didn't fill them out. i have friends who regret joining, and have friends who want to make it a career. i live a military lifestyle while at school - yes, i hate it...i'm switching lifestyles, because i don't want to be that confined anymore.
1993 (Lackland air force base, san antonio, TX) I served my country with dignity and honor and without regrets Hotwater
That is probably the most sexist statement I've ever heard in my life. You should be ashamed. What if the female firefighters who were pulling people out of the rubble of 9-11 had thought that? What if Sally Ride said "I can't go into space, my hormones are out of balance!"? What if Wu Zetian said "I can't be the first Empress of China, my royal vagina isn't well."? What if Molly Pitcher just didn't feel like carrying fresh water to the troops of the American Revolution? Jesus, what if Lassie couldn't save Billy when he fell down the well because she was in heat???? Shame on you.
Those are choices. I'm not at home barefoot and pregnant ya know. I have a high responsibility job that I am leaving to pursue my masters. And yes I am sexist. I think there are things that women can do that men can't and that men can do that women can't.
and you know what's sexist? The feminist movement causing society to make women not only care for kids and clean and cook, but also hold full time jobs and still do the majority of all the housework and keeping the kids looking great and healthy. That is freaking sexist that they created a society where men expect women to work even after they have kids.
