I never say that word. I know it was super unlady like, but whatever I don't slip-up that often. Coming from a military family I get pissed off really easy. Unless you are out there activley achieving peace to a degree that it greatley inconviences your life then you have no right to bitch about people who are stronger than you and have more juevos. peace is often used as an excuse justify apathy and laziness imo. I am all for peace and activley try to change the world, but I am also intelligent and respectful enough to know the difference between a corrupt goverment and the people who protect me. I also like cops...does that make me horrid? They've helped me out far more than they've given me tickets. I have no issues with authority, but I do have issues with apathy for the condition of the world.
Just curious.... Lynsey, do you think the military is actually working to "achieve peace"? I mean, the average person serving might THINK they are, but I am sure you know as well as most people that's just not the case.
you know what else I hate? people who do nothing but post url links for a charity and think they are fantastic for it or people who volunteer just a few times a year and tell everyone they know about it. I am so sick of people who give nothing to this world and take and take. It's so nice not having anyone-even friends like that in my life right now.
In afghanistan-yes. In Iraq I think they are now. I don't think our goverment is, but I think military personal want to ensure that sadam regime loyalists don't do the same thing after we leave that they did in 89 (90?). That was awful what we did pulling out like that and leaving all of those people to be tortured and die. Everyone I know in the military is most focused on keeping civilians safe not just not, but in the future. There might be civilian casualties now, but if we finish there will be so much less in the future. I think we need a president with real war experience though. I no longer think we should vote people in who haven't served in dangerous combat. I would love for McCain or Kerry to get into office, because I know they have the ability to see both sides in the darkest and most personal way; in a way that touches their hearts-not their pockets and testosterone.
I refuse to talk about what I think about the military. Many people know what I think but it's a touchy subject so I keep what I think quiet.
Does anyone else think mccain looks like steve martin. Hi bella check this out http://groups.myspace.com/clothesforpoor
well, the thrift shop here only seems to have air force stuff, and army stuff obviously because I live next door to Ft. Bragg, but feel free to unload all of your old uniform stuff on me When it is cold, I don't wear coats, I wear uniform stuff over my t-shirts =) It really bothers people............ I have tons of old army pants and gross old pts, think we even still have some brown undies from basic training HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Bella Désordre vbmenu_register("postmenu_3502147", true); We had an army in my country for many years when they left at the time and with hindsight they achieved nothing positive. they did manage to make life hell. sending fighting men and women to solve problems results in fighting. War came first politics and diplomacy came as a bloodless alternative. if they don't move as fast as war perhaps it means there's more chances to avoid dangerous mistakes.
I doubt it... maybe kids and arabs... I make sure to give every person I see in uniform a very evil look... it makes my heart happy.
I have no issues with those in the different service branches. I have respect that they believe in something and work for it no matter what. I think it is silly that they feel the need to make a person thru ads believe that the military is the way to make a person achieve thier full potential but I guess even they have employment gaps. I guess a commercial with the contents of "Be one of the few, the proud the latrene cleaning crew" or how about this "imagine sitting there in the quiet wee hours of the morning peeling 1000's of taters"
The latest Marines' ad is trying to sell the idea you'll get to rock climb in Utah. What's next on the tour of duty: skydiving, bungey jumping?
Yes I feel everyone who thinks of going into a recruiter needs to watch 30 minutes of the following movies Private Benjamin In the Army Now (pauly shore) Stripes
