In today's world it is the same as it has always been. Some humans want change and others do not when it comes to various social issues. Yet the current times people cling to was once a threat as well. You would not be so comfortable in your own life if the boat was not rocked then. Your traditional life was not always that. So where is the line? Do we do it Amish style and pick a hard date in time? Anything after 1875 is evil. I feel like now the date some want in America is 1960. The basic conservative vs progressive stance. Life either needs to evolve or it does not and when it does you either love it or curse it. They used to say the radio was bad because people did not have a conversation anymore therefore people will forget how to. Now the same is said about smart phones by those who speak fondly of the radio. They said paper was bad for students at one point too. It makes them lazy. This is why I think we need people to always push forward. Fear and annuity is a normal human trait. You don't see many wild animals breaking the norm. It's not good for survival. I see a lot of this in the modern world. Those who fear social process often fear their own death from it. Buddhist will say you must always learn and accept change. Do not cling to dogma and assume that the past is correct. Your own heart and mind means you know best in your world.
We all dislike change on varying levels but once you get through it, or see it to the other side, it’s possibly the best thing that could ever happen to you.
Change is inevitable. Resistance is equally inevitable. Part and parcel of the human condition. Civil war would be one example, locally.
there have been a few where lack of change was one. the anasazi had to give up their cities because they had grown beyond what their environment could support. the seaport of mohenjo daru became no longer viable as one when sea level receded.
