America should have responded like on J6, during the G.W. Bush / Fox News Election Steal of 2000. Lucky for Bush, that the 9-11 Attack, saved his Presidency.
my daughter was born 2.5 years before you and my son was born right after you.. you express yourself well.. you've helped me see the changing world as my own kids must've experienced it.. thank you for that.. have you considered writing a blog? short stories? novels? even a first person narrative about transitioning from the analog world into digital.. you could do that via a fictitious character.. there's lots of people your age - and their parents - who just may understand what their kids and their world were about..
The year 2000. My kids would visit me in California from Oregon --one at a time for two years, then the next one would come for two years. Not ideal, but that's how it worked out. Son number 0ne was with me when the century was about to change and he decided that he wanted to have his band play that very night at the spot in the west hills where we usually went to shoot at targets. We went out the day it was to roll over to 2000 and set up a large tarp on the ground for people to sit on. I stepped on a rattlesnake --but he didn't get me. I grabbed him and flung him down into the draw between our shooting position and where we set up targets---to live another day. That night when cars began to show, a farmer in the valley saw the headlights coming up to our location and called the highway patrol. They showed up and ran everyone off, so we headed the 30 or so miles back to our house. His band played there and a good time was had by all. The world didn't collapse and the most serious thing was massive hangovers!! And here we are--some 23 years later and all family members are here in Eugene.
Waiting for the world to end because someone thought the calendars would screw up was pretty hilarious! I recall reading afterwards that businesses at the time spent many billions of dollars 'upgrading' their software to avoid the so- called 'crisis' about to happen. I know a lot of people who stocked their homes with food and drink expecting the worst... Funny how things look in retrospective.
