About two weeks ago I noticed the lymph nodes in my neck were swollen really bad on one side. It was like this for the entire week and still persists today. Around the same time I felt pretty lethargic, achy, and my performance at the gym was suffering. I figured I must have been coming down with something or was overtraining. Monday I developed a really bad sore throat that only got worse as the week progressed. I assumed it was strep and planned on waiting it out since I don't like taking antibiotics unless it's absolutely necessary. When Thursday came around I could not even sleep because every time I would fall asleep I would just as quickly be jolted awake by the feeling of not being able to breathe. Very disconcerting to say the least. I was really freaked out by this and I have been afraid to go to sleep ever since. Today I ended up going to an Urgent Care doctor who diagnosed me with a peritonsillar abscess (basically a pus-filled infection within one of my tonsils). I was given one of those rapid strep tests which came back negative, though the doctor believes the infection was still caused by a form of strep the test does not pick up. The back of my throat looks downright ghastly and feels even worse. I don't think I have ever been in so much pain. Every swallow feels like a knife stab to the throat. The doctor gave it one quick look and decided what I needed was an immediate antibiotic shot in the ass. Of course I also have a prescription for a 10-day supply of Amoxicillin. This shit cannot be over with soon enough. I have been up for nearly 50 hours straight as of right now, and strangely I don't feel all that bad (in terms of my mental state). In fact my mind feels even sharper than usual, though I doubt that will last much longer. My throat is starting to feel a little better, but I want this shit to end now. I took last night and tonight off from work, and it's been almost a week since I have been to the gym. I haven't been eating worth shit because I haven't had an appetite.
My lymph nodes in my neck have actually felt swollen on and off for the past couple weeks. Its kind of annoying. There was a day or two where i felt like I was getting sick but nothing ever came of it. weird. strep throat symptoms suck. hopefully it dont last to much longer for you
I hope that woman of yours is being a nurse and taking damn good care of you. If not, I may need to have a few words with her.
I had that. Not fun. Hopefully, you're feeling better, and had someone taking care of you through the ordeal.
Be really careful about a relapse. It happens far too often and tends to be more difficult to overcome due to already being compromised. Hope you are feeling better soon!
I get that. I took the flu about 6 weeks ago, then it went to a cold and pneumonia. Did the antibiotics and pred and it then went to bronchitics. I have just been released from the hospital after 10 days as it threw my whole system down. Even given I am immuno suppressed it has been insane. If you are not feeling a whole lot better within a couple more days, follow up, please.
Wow, I am so glad you are okay. It must have been very serious if you were in the hospital for 10 days.
Eat well (when your appetite comes back) and gets lots of rest. The body needs sleep more than anything when sick. I WILL fly to Rochester and take care of you myself, if I have to.
^^^ What can I say? Once you start to care about someone, it's kind of impossible to stop. At least, for me, it is.
Strange about the lymph nodes, every once in a while during the winter months (only) they swell up for a few days and then return to normal without an apparent cause. I think maybe I’m coming down with a cold, flu, or a strep-throat but it rarely happens. I almost never get sick so I'm left with a mystery. Hotwater
Ugh. Day three of no sleep. Somebody please shoot me. I kid, I kid, but damn, this is just horrible. I tried going to bed a little while ago, went into this weird, delirious half-sleep/half awake state for about an hour before deciding to get back up and watch some TV. It's like I am lying in bed and I am having these thoughts that are making absolutely no sense but are making me anxious. It's like when you're a kid and have a high fever, and you wake up in the middle of the night and your surroundings take on this bizarre character and everything is just cray cray.
I'm sorry you're going through this right now. You must be exhausted. I know the feeling, I've been there myself. Even if you just lay in bed with your eyes closed and try and keep your thoughts clear, you're still getting rest. Or lay in bed and read a book. Looking at a screen is definitely not going to help. Do you have any sleepytime tea? I wish there was something I could do. In any event, hang in there. This too shall pass.
So basically you have a cold. sorry to hear that. But like I said before, if you think that is the worst pain, you wouldn't last 24 hours in my body, and compared to what Heat has been through... Duuude, you gotta toughen up or you ain't gonna make to 50....LOL ask your girlfriend to make you some free range chicken soup. seriously though, if you suspect strep, don't think it will "go away", even if symptoms diminish, it can lie dormant for decades and fuck up vital organs.
