While I condemn, detest and resent any legislation against our transgender citizens, isn't moving out of the whole country a bit extreme? Yeah, ass backwards states like Texas and Florida (my apologies to any and all good people of those states who have a brain and a heart) are obvious cesspools of inbred celebratory ignorance and hatred of anyone who's "different," but not every US state's legislature is full of utter idiots.

 

May all beings without exception be safe, free of all fear and anxiety, at ease and at peace.

 

Amen! Smell the anti-Semitism, anti-LGBT stink from self-righteous Christians and find a new place to live. That works well. The Jews who left Germany early have done quite well compared to those who stayed. And those who remain, silent and complacent thinking it will never happen to them, suffer eventually.

If you have the freedom, use it while you still can. A lot of young Russians did that recently too.

 

Freedom of gender expression and liberty in general are being attacked by autocratic control freaks. These bullies got a taste of power under the Trump regime and are now lining up to see who can be an even bigger bully. Those of us who are in a position to defend liberty must stand up to the bullies. Those who are currently the victims of the bullies need to seek safe haven wherever they can find it.

Who are you referring to? The transgender people I know don't bother children or adults. They are nice people who appreciate it when others allow them to be themselves.

Also, they were generally aware of their gender status early in life, but not all of them lived in a supportive family.

The sad ( and alarming!) part of all this right wing horseshit, is that none of this at all would be brought up again and again (along with all the other right wing issues) , -----is the fact that there are enough people for whom these issues seem important and NEED to be acted upon!!

 

My belief is that as human beings we can learn from the past and do better. The problem is that a number of people have a myopic view of the past and aren’t about to change that view.

It wasn’t the “gay nineties” or the “golden age”….it was just plain miserable for all but the rich and entitled. For the millions who fled Europe for America it was a life close to slavery…..a life of severed digits and limbs in lumber mills without safety equipment….a life of mesothelioma from working with asbestos…..a life ending with being shredded by corn pickers…..a life in homes with lead pipes and slow lead poisoning……the list goes on ad nauseum. I saw these things growing up.

OSHA, EPA, Mine Safety Administration, and highway safety rules have helped. There are brutal conservatives who oppose any attempts to legislate humanity in our economic system but there remains so much more to be done. Time to get with it and build a better future.

Florida Republicans propose ‘fascist’ bill to remove trans kids from parents’ custody

 

What the hey? I'm trying to figure out just what this proposed law is saying. It seems to be about custody battles, where one parent is supportive of "gender affirming" care and the other isn't---including where one parent is outside the state of Florida. The parent who is not supportive of said care gets the kid. Is that right?

 

What's to compel a parent who's supportive of a trans child, who's outside of the state of Florida, to hand over their kid to the transphobic parent, just because DouchebagSantis says so?
