It wasn't in your direction I was aiming to strike.... Interesting don't you think that in pretty well all cultures the snake is a symbol of knowledge, but in christianity it's a symbol of evil. Strange in many ways. I could understand if they were though badly of in India where the cobra and swamp adder etc present a threat to humans and their livestock. Strange that in europe which has very few venemous snakes they're associated with the devil.
Nope, you are wrong again. The meditating Shiva is represented in all pictures and statues , with a cobra coiled in his neck. Lord Vishnu rests on Ananta, the immortal and infinite snake . According to buddhas biography, a cobra coiled itself on buddhas begging bowl and slept in it. Just like all animals , snakes are also seen as divine, with Gods presence in it as well.
Read what I said - I said in many cultures the snake or serpent is a symbol of knowledge. I thought my subsequent remarks woud make it clear to any person with an ounce of perception that India is an example of such a place. I said that in christianity it is a symbol of evil. I hope you're not going to try to dispute that too.
Also wish to state that the snake is representative of the rising kundalini in the body. Kundalini is a Sanskrit word meaning either "coiled up" or "coiling like a snake." Swami Vivekananda ,when he drew the symbol of the Ramakrishna mission , drew a snake to represent raja yoga .
Well, he said that snakes are considered evil in India, I just rectified his stance on this, and he himself clarified this. Wonder why you are so hung on it ! :H
You are intelligent niranjan, did you ever think that you would share your ideas better if you make a sincere effort to read another's post and understand their point of view?
Explain how I said snakes are considered evil in India. Because I can't see how you construe that from my post. Maybe in your haste to launch another attack, you missed the word 'if'. Careless that.
Well, you still were making an assumption that snakes could be considered evil in India, without highlighting the divine aspect of snakes in India. Hence I rectified it for you, in case you did not know. Its as simple as that. :H
Thank you. :H Well I just wanted to get rid of snakie snedricks assumption that his friends might be considered evil in India. And thats what I did and gave info on how snakes are perceived in India. I also did not tease him or something as well.:jester:
I think you're plain stupid and can't understand things even when spelled out clearly. The only one making assumptions here is you.
