i made a loaf of bread, new recipe. its cooling, so i dont know how it is yet.

I have a great zucchini bread recipe, so I decided next time I'm going to add a swirl of cinnamon to it. Then try my hand at regular cinnamon swirl bread. with yeast and everything

my dog looks a lot like her, and mine chews right through everything. so far the kong type toy (i think we got the off brand) that you can put treats in is holding up the best. anything cloth is toast within a week.

bread must cool if you want it to slice well. it came out pretty good.

sunshine- do not fear the yeast. its just a skill, its learning when it looks right. when you knead- start with 8-10 minutes. that will generally get you where you need to be in terms of elasticity/ gluten formation. there are lots of tips and tricks and recipes, but that is the "scary" part in learning to make bread. and even if a recipe comes out funny, it is usually still edible. this is the recipe for the bread i just made:

1 egg+ water to equal 1 1/3 cups
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup sugar (less about 2 TBsp due to altitude)
1 tsp salt
2 tsp yeast
4 cups flour (i used 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour, about 2 cups all purpose flour)
(how much flour you need depends on the humidity, and the day. its part of the skill, learning when to stop adding flour)

mix everything EXCEPT the flour together. add flour gradually, until dough comes together. turn out onto a lightly floured surface, knead. dough should be smooth and elastic. lightly grease the dough in a bowl, allow to rise about 30 minutes. punch down (i just gently squish and shape it) shape and place in your loaf pan (or cut and make into hot dog/ hamburger buns, then place on pan) allow to rise 20-30 minutes.
bake in 350° oven 15 minutes for buns, 30 minutes for a loaf. cool before slicing, unless they will be eaten right away.

this makes one loaf, normally i make 2 of any bread. one for eating "now" and one for "later" i make a mean pumpkin bread too. mmm.

 

with all that experience you have you should know that these are considered offensive terms. I'm sure I'll get a few bitching about me trying to be PC and shit but sometimes I'm just gonna stand up for my thoughts.

since we're sharing

2/3 cup shortening and 2 and 2/3 cup sugar.
then add 2/3 cup water and 3 cups shredded zucchini
and then 3 and 1/3 cup flour, 2 ts baking soda
1 and 1/2 ts salt, 1/2 ts baking powder
1 ts cinnamon, 2 ts vanilla

bake for an hour and ten at 350 degrees!
makes two loaves and tastes like candy.

 

i might have to put the boy and th hubby to work shredding some zucchini... mmmmm.
