I've heard all kinds of ignorance coming from people here about the reason why gas is so expensive is that the "ragheads" have cars made of solid silver. (I saw a posting on this where someone found a photo of some Arab men, complete with head dresses (I don't know what those are called) were gathered around a car that had been painted with chrome)

I'm sure that those in charge in Saudi Arabia, worried now that a whole host of former "princes" are now working in hotels and what have you and are thinking about beheading the powers that be - are pointing them at the Americans and saying "by Allah it is their fault".

But I really don't think the calls to behead Salman Rushdie or the publisher of a Danish newspaper have anything to do with geopolitics in the Gulf.
