I heard that this album wasn't all that great, but it's actually pretty damn good, Shaman's Blues, Touch Me, the title song, Wishful Sinful, Wild Child... I dunno why it gets a bad rap, what do y'all think?

I'm talking about the 1969 Doors album by the way.

Absolutely a fantastic album. Some of my favorite doors material on that one. I think part of the reason it gets a bad rap is due to the inclusion of big band type styles. Even though it worked out amazingly and added much depth to their sound, many people at the time saw it as selling out, because a lot of people were using those types of styles at the time. At least that's the best guess I have, because that album is awesome.

Shamans blues and the title song are my favs. Most other Doors albums contain more than 2 highlights for me, which is why this album is not considered the greatest. It's still a great album though!

The Doors were fantastic, though I have to admit I clicked on this thread wondering what "psychedelic" and "garage" were doing right next to each other. Psy-Garage... sounds like an old-school techno genre.

Cancel my subscription to the resurrection. Send my credentials to the house of detention: I got some friends inside!

I think this is a good example of 60's psychedelic garage rock:
