My father was an avid sportsman, not a gun flake…no assault weapons. But in his years there were several close calls. One time he was visiting a fellow sportsman in his den and picked up a pistol from the desk. My father saw the clip lying on the desk, picked up the pistol, pointed it at the outside wall and pulled the trigger…..BANG…two clips. Another time we were at a field trial where the dog would flush a live duck and the dogs handler would fire and shoot the duck. But one mallard didn’t like the game plan and flew right at the gallery of observers. No! Russ! Don’t shoot! But Russ did….Bang and a half dozen of the observers went to the hospital to have shotgun pellets removed, including my father who had a pellet about 1 inch from his eye. Hummm.
