I hugely disagree... however I am not going to preach my opinions onto you. Nor am I going to slay down black metal in the way that

So theyre singing about the atrocities of life and human ignorance? Can you understand what theyre saying? I watched all the links you posted...thanks for that. I can see now why metal is an art. The guitar riffs are amazing...I just dont like the vocals. I respect the work it must take to be able to sing that way...but I prefer to be able to understand what the singer is saying! My 5 year old watched some of them with me and said they look like Captain Hook and sound like dying rabbits. lol.

Black metal has screams and rasps rather than brutal style vocals.

And your assesment is ignorant because you don't listen to black metal obviously. Where as I have listened to Opeth for a good 8 years now.

 

Well black metal is basically about how humans are a plague upon the planet and how earth should be restored to a pre industrial state. It also has strong anti-christian themes

Death metal is more about gore, rape, violence, murder, cannibalism etc

And blackened death metal takes black metal lyrical content and mixes it with death metal music

I've actually listened to quite a bit of blackmetal, I'm talking like 4 -5 years. Obviously not as long as you and I'm not "consumed" by it, I do however have a good understanding. When I listened to it thats what it comes across as... not saying I didn't enjoy it.. it just doesn't do it for me anymore, in the way that it comes across as noise. The bands I listened to were like Behemoth, Gorgoroth etc

 

Behemoth isn't really black metal...
