The grateful dead is as close to metal as I get. lol...I have played Dead tunes for people who have never heard them before and almost all people had a preconceived notion that The Grateful Dead played hardcore metal. Several people have told me this. I lol'ed.

I don't dig the metal personally. Sounds like noise to me. I like stuff with a good melody.

I like me some folk metal :)

I had some pretty strong opinions about how metal was just noise before I was actually surrounded by it 24/7. Still not into the whole black/death metal stuff, but i have come to appreciate the skill level that it requires. Often, if you can tune out the vocals, the music itself isn't too bad.

you basically just summed up my feelings about metal.

i have been a huge fan of the mars volta for a long time, not necessarily as much live, but i love their albums. fucking great studio band. it's like salsa metal, haha.

And to everyone else who loves metal, there is a difference between loving metal and being totally consumed by it.

I happen to fall under the completely consumed by it. Metal is my life.

And I don't mean slipknot and crap like that lol

Well when ever I am alone all I blast is metal. Normally of the black variety.

But I do also listen to other stuff, because the majority of time I am not alone when I am listening and I understand that the music I enjoy is not pleasant for most people around me.

And I have to listen to alot of other genres (mainly indie) because that is the genre most of my clients are composing and it's my job to record and produce it. Hopefully some day I will own my own metal studio. That is my dream in life

i like metal, well I like music of all kinds but metal is the main, or should I call it rock, I like all kinds of metal but honestly prefer the ones without too many guturals, I like soilwork though....

I think music is my life but the genre depends on my mood at the time, I cant really listen to the same thing for too long, i get bored, last genre I listened for a while was celtic punk

also zilla... so you dislike mars volta live or you just like them better on their studio albums, cause I went to see them at a music fest a while ago and it was freaking awesome soaking wet from the rain and all

no, i love them live. like a said, i am a huge TMV fan.. but cedric's singing can be a bit... piercing. it's seems to work out better when he's got the help of auto tune. i've seen them live twice and i'm going to see them again at bonnaroo :D
