I think most county jails dont pay the inmates.. work is a privilege.. In a state prisons here jobs are limited and the you would have to be a certain level to get jobs outside the kitchen or cleaners.. If you dont work you collect an idle pay.. cause you cant have inmates running around bumming stuff of everyone, this includes staff..
I agree. 8 hours of work is not a privilege, though. Not imo, coupled with being charged to be there.
Welcome back man . I can't believe they CHARGE you to be in jail? Here, for certain violations, they'll take you to jail if you cant pay your court costs upfront, and you lose $50 a day until it's up. It's funny because it costs money to keep people in jail.... what're they afraid of, you'll run off and never pay it? They'd track you down one way or another.
at least you didnt have to go to tent city my buddy was there a year and he said lots of people die there from exhaustion or something
it would be inhuman to house inmates in a way that they suffered medical problems.. im sure some older inmates and younger may suffer heat strokes in the summer, older inmates may die from time to time, but this happens even in jails across other states that are open and dont have air conditioning.. Just as inmates cant go outside in thunder storms, sub freezing temperatures, this would also be a risk to staff members...
so you got to blaze on christmas in jail? how does that work. I didn't even get to burn on xmas - i was visiting the GF's family. and your 21st birthday was in jail too? that sucks man where do you go to get books in jail? the library? i'm curious i love watching prison shows on MSNBC - like lock up raw
People kiestered the pot and cigs in. We just smoked out of an apple in the shower. There is a small library in there and you can receive books via mail. Thanks
