IF he runs again , he will win by default there is no way "his cult" would accept another loss, and this democracy the experiment called America is over

  2. I fear you are correct. It's my belief the election process has been corrupt for decades but it became so blatently obvious this time around they couldn't hide it any longer.

Totally agree. America should take a leaf out of Australia's book -the Australian Electoral Commission- and have a single electoral commission to conduct all the polls for the three levels of Federal Government, State elections and local governments.

I saw a current poll that showed 75% of self-identified Republicans said they support Trump for the 2024 nomination. But that is a shrinking universe because that and other polls show support for the Republican party among all voters is now down to 37%. That means 63% of voters say they do not identify with or support the Republican party. Trump is like a big fish in a small pond (the small pond being the current Republican party).

Because many, MANY people are UNDER-EDUCATED about our history, the Constitution (why it was written as it was, and what it's meant to protect against - as well as protect), our political systems, civics, etc. Hell - many people don't even know that each state has it's own legislature - separate from the U.S. Congress in Washington DC. Lots of folks can tell you how many "apps" they have on their phones, or which outlet has the cheapest beer, or which entertainment star is screwing who behind someone else's back ................ but don't know the name of their own representative in their state house or the U.S. Congress. More attention gets paid to the Kardashians by many people, than to what actually affects their - and their family's lives - every day.

It's absolutely comical - and extremely SAD - to see how many use the word "fascism" these days. Most people don't even know what the term actually means. They hear others use the term, and then attach it to anything they don't like. I've heard lots of folks accuse Democrats of being fascists, when in fact - it's the REPUBLICANS who are behaving like fascists by trying to overturn a free & fair election by attacking the U.S. Capitol violently - 6 people now dead because of it. But because of their GLARINGLY OBVIOUS lack of education ............... many people can't discern the difference between fascism and democracy.

The electoral college needs to become a dead fossil. The popular vote - the voices of ALL Americans - should A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y be the method by which candidates should be elected - NOT by a method begun in "horseback travel" days. Paper-backed proof should settle any doubts as to who got votes.

A nationally televised program for ALL to see should be broadcast to educate and reassure all Americans of ANY re-vamping / updating of our electoral systems. And that program should be recorded so people can pull it up online or on their "smart phones" to re-read and digest it's contents. Eliminate ALL doubts and "shadows" so people feel confident about how their votes will be counted.

The current "system" is ripe for tampering, as is now becoming more & more obvious as state legislatures in the U.S. are now attempting to draft new laws so that only the State legislatures will decide who wins political races - not the people's votes. Not surprisingly - the state legislatures attempting this RADICAL overturning of elections are ALL controlled by REPUBLICANS - the very same ones who wanted to overturn the free & fair election we just had in the U.S. THEY want to be the ones who determine who wins elections ............. NOT the votes & voices of the people. If the REPUBLICAN PARTY can't win by fair voting processes .......... they'll just change the processes so they can't lose. They expose their cheating ways by their very own gerrymandering of voting districts in the U.S. so opposing views and votes are artificially outnumbered in given districts so only REPUBLICANS can win. Some fairly-elected Democrats and Independents were eliminated by simply re-drawing voting districts so those people COULD NOT WIN AGAIN in a fair election. This was / is being done by THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. It is quite simply ........... the politicians choosing their voters - instead of the voters choosing their elected officials. CHEATING ..... plain & simple.

T-H-A-T is fascism. Eliminating any opposing political points of view / wishes of the majority of the people.

Another thing that needs to go, and it isn't even mentioned in the Constitution, is the Senate fillibuster, which has the effect of requiring an extraordinary vote of 60% to pass ordinary legislation. Since passage in the Senate is necessary for all legislation, this guarantees a minority veto over the majority in situations where the majority party doesn't hold three-fifths of the Senate seats. This was the brainchild of John C. Calhoun, who thought the south needed a sectional veto or "concurrent majorities" to protect its "peculiar institution."

Interesting that one of the reason the electoral college was created was because the founding fathers feared the general populace was not informed enough which is exactly what erofant states in post #45.
Ignorance abounds on both sides with neither willing to compromise politics has become "bloodsport" and with no term limits and unlimited "super Pac" spending there is no motivation to change the system from within the true "civil servant" is gone , who in the general populace has time for civics?
