The horses were reluctantly put back in the care of the surly brothers and threatened with bodily harm if anything out of the ordinary befell them. They believed the threat, but still had some plans for the odd girl that had humiliated them. The five crossed Main street and went south for a block and there lay the small city business building on the southwest corner of the next block. The revelers carried on one street over, determined to get drunk and have some more fun. Doug withdrew the proper key from his pocket, inserted it into the lock and the door opened inwards to reveal a twenty by forty foot room. Desks and chairs, presumably enough for whomever it was that spent time here, were close to the walls around the perimeter of the room.

Doug knew exactly where most of the forms were located , each reflecting the various lawful needs of the city and county, such as they were. Since there was a lack of lawmen and no mayor at the present time, lawful needs had been few and far between, lately.

Doug's son David, the erstwhile preacher had been sent for and was met at the door by his pa. He was told what the youngins' were a'hankerin' to do and was thrilled to be able to accommodate them. This would be his first marriage performed and so he took the proper form from his pa and begin to read it silently. Josh and Becky were close by Dougs son and caught a glimpse of the marriage certificate. " Oh, man. This is it sweetheart!! They closed in embrace and the both of them were grinning as big as was possible for them to do.!!

"OK, I have to sign this here paper right there," he indicated , " And pa, you sign right there as a witness." Becky spoke up -" Listen , ifn' yall' don't mind, I think we'd like to have Lonnie witness this here paper. Nothin' agin you, Mr Bailey." "I understand and figger that's right and true." " Alright now. Is you kids gonna' say anything to one another, or should I just git on with it?" " Well, I don't reckon they's too much to say. I been in love with Josh as long as I knowed 'im and that ain't" ever---she looked at Lonnie--"diminished," he said, and she repeated the word. "Well, same goes fer me. Ain't never been and ain't never gonna' be another woman fer me. That's the truth of it, right there."

Marrying words were said to the two and the I do-s were repeated by each. The two kissed fiercely, parted and that was it. " Damn, boy--we done it, Becky said. Damn if'n we didn't," replied Josh with a big grin. "C'mon, honey" he continued--les get us a room fer the night. You up fer it?" " Boy--you better be the one that's up," Becky said to snickers from the others.

"Are yall serious? Every room in town is booked and has been for a week." The two stood there and tried to reason through the situation. They were amused in their own way that after all that had taken place over the last week with all the danger , they were now married with no suitable place to complete the relationship. Becky giggled and suggested they try the roof. Wasn't too steep, she said. Josh took Beckys arm and guided her toward the stairs, which led to the second and third floors of the venerable old wood frame building.

" Let's stand in the hallway and see if anyone comes out of 'a room." " Becky giggled again and said " You mean just mill around out here lookin' horny so someone takes pity on us?" " Well---yeah. I reckon that's about it." Becky started laughing heartily at their predicament and Josh eventually joined in when she couldn't stop the laughing. The contagious laughter filled the hallway and the irony of finally getting married in a town with no rooms for rent, fueled the mirth.

A door opened down the hall from where they were leaning against the wall doubled up with laughter and and a well dressed man stuck his head out and looked toward the two.
Josh took the opportunity to hail the man between laughing and trying to catch his breath. " Hey mister. hahahahaha-You checkin' out 'a that there room?" "I hadn't planned on it. No." What'll it take to get you hahahahahaha-ta' give 'er up, mister?" " I suppose if the proper remuneration were put in play, a solution may be amenable," the man said. Becky doubled over in laughter again and Josh said quietly -" What the fuck did he say?" Which made Becky laugh even harder. " Where's Lonnie when we need him," Becky said between chokes of laughter.

The man stepped full out into the hallway and was then recognized as the stranger with the fancy duds that Becky had accosted with her shotgun outside of Sonora. " I'll give ya' a hunerd dollars, mister, ifn' you give us that there room fer the night. Becky was now down on the worn carpeted floor, completely out of control with spasms of laughter. " The stranger inquired as to what the urgency was, that the youngins' would offer such a price for one night in a room. " Aw hell, mister--we just got ourselves hitched. And what does that there remu--remunee--that word you said. What does it mean?" You mean money??" " That I do, son. That I do. Tell you what. This here room is yours tonight fer two hundred dollars and that's the last of it." " Becky was still laughing and in between the bursts of laughter, she managed to choke out- " We got 'ta--ahahahahahha--we got 'ta-hahahahahahhaha-we got 'ta pay this idiot two hundred dollars to fuck after all these hahahahahahahaa years? Oh-hahahahahahahaha- this is the best!! Shit, boy. Let's get the hahahahahaha -fuck outta' here. Hell, let's go up to the woods and I'll show 'ya somethin." Josh let his head fall to his chest and gave up on the possibility of getting a room. Sure is nice to see Becky having some fun though, after all she had been through lately.

They started down the hallway back toward the stairs and the stranger called to them with a much better offer. The stranger had previously found himself in the Palace having a couple of beers alongside a pair of very disgruntled brothers, whom he soon found --had some plans. The plans were designed for vengeance, all right. And by god, rape too. " Listen. I was just foolin' with you youngin's. I have another place to stay, so yall're welcome to this here room. So I'll get my belongings and vacate in an hour or so. Is that going to suit ya?" Josh came back to shake the strangers hand and sealed the deal. " OK. Tha's better, ain't it honey?" "Well, in one way-it be real good! But what's in it fer that feller? I don't rightly see him as the generous type. Let's get us a steak and some taters and gravy down to the restaurant. Then we'll be ready fer what comes." "

Lonnie had gone back to the corrals to ascertain the state of the horses under the supposed care of the feckless brothers, leaving the newlyweds to their own devices. This is a fine day indeed, he thought. Those youngins' sure make a nice pair. Well, he continued to himself, not to mention a very dangerous pair too.

"Those sonsabitches." He could plainly see that neither the brothers nor anyone else had tended to their mounts. The hay was gone from the trough that circled the corral and the horses were restless and hungry. "Those damn fools are gonna' be in some serious shit , if Becky shows up," he said to no one in particular. He took it upon himself to cut the wire bindings and heave some of the bales of alfalfa through the opening on the north side of the barn onto the corral grounds below. The horses immediately closed in and began to feed on the sweet alfalfa hay.

"Reckon them horses in the pasture is OK, since they's plenty to chew on for 'em if'n they stick to the northern edge." The summer sun had dried and bleached that which had formerly been a luxurious, green growth, again having been provided in the fall and spring, by that which provides. As had been thankfully provided every fall and spring for a millennium and more, Lonnie supposed.

He had no idea where the youngin's had got off to, so he reckoned he needed to stay around the corrals to make sure the gray and his companions were well taken care of. When he exited the corral proper and started around the barn to the front, the old gold panner was there with his friend and cohort, the big mule. They were drinking deeply from a small water trough that obtained its water through piping laid across the corral from the main trough. The main trough had rising above it, a large windmill which supplied water to another large trough on the edge of the meadow through additional piping, where dozens and dozens of horses were free to roam and take grass and water as they pleased.

" Hey , old man! You just gettin' here? Good 'ta see ya." " Well, howdy Lonnie. How yall been?"And where's them feisty youngin's. Been hankerin' to see 'em again. They's quite the pair, ain't they?" " I can say honestly, that there ain't nothing like'em , I ever seen. " "Look here, you might as well stay up in the loft here where I'ma' sleepin'. There ain't a dad-burn room to be had 'round these parts, what with what's goin' on." Them kids got hitched this very day and they's gonna' be disappointed about this here lodging situation. " Well, I'll be durned. Good fer them. Yeah, I seen all them drunken fools staggerin' 'round over yonder. What's 'a goin' on to make so many fools?" "Ahhh--they's tryin' to recreate somethin' that can't be done. Just an excuse to raise hell. Leastways , that's the way she turned out. I'm sure the ones that thought it all up, were serious in their intent. 'Sposed to be a mountain man get together." The old man laughed and reminded Lonnie that the gatherings always turned out to be a bunch 'a drunken fools actin' up. Even back in the day when 'goin' mountain' meant somethin'. But I wouldn't stay in no room , if'n they was free. Been outside too long, Lonnie. But I could use the company of the three of 'ya, that's fer sure. I'll stay here. Hope them youngins' show up, though. Never seen nothin' like that gal. Hope they's OK, foolin' 'round downtown with all that shit takin' place. Looks to me like a feller could get hisself kilt 'round here if'n he weren't careful. " Oh , that's a possibility," Lonnie said.

" This here's a fine meal, but damnit, I'm a'gettin' tired 'a people lookin' at me." Ahh, don't pay no attention to 'em. Here--trade me seats and you kin' look at the wall fer' awhile and them clowns can look at yer back." " OK. Thanks, honey. It's wearin' on this country girl, having people shufflin 'round me, noddin' and grinnin' and tippin' their hats like they know me. Almost as bad as when some of 'em needed a feel off me. I don't want none 'a that shit." Josh shrugged his shoulders with a small gesture that meant " that's just the way it is."

Finished with their meal, they sat back to relax and Josh took some fixin's out of his shirt pocket and commenced to rollin' up some tobacco into a small tube. " He lit it and then asked Becky what she made of all their laughin' up in the hotel. " I don't rightly know. It weren't nearly as funny as we made it out to be." " Yup. I think maybe we was releasin' some --uh--tension. You know. From all the serious business of killin' we been up to lately," he said quietly so as not to disturb the other patrons with information they didn't need. What do 'ya think?" A Couple of minutes went by as she thought about it and eventually replied, " I guess so. Seems likely. I sure never thought our lives'd take such a turn as what they have with all this killin." They went silent and worked on the coffee. "Sometimes I wish we was little again, back in the slough, swimmin' and all ,like we used to do." " They sunk wistfully back to those days in their minds and smiled together at the thoughts.

A man walked up quietly and his hand moved to tap Becky on the shoulder. He was a writer of dime novels depicting stories of the west. He was from back east and was a writer of some note. Of course he exaggerated the oft-published western tales like most of the dime novelists did, because city slickers loved them; the wilder, the better. And he saw a hell of an opportunity here. Talk to and maybe even get a first person story of the wild west that easterners ate up like candy. He'd heard about this odd girl with the unusual eyes just about every place he went this morning. And by god--here she was. Most had expressed the thought to him that she was truly terrifying in her actions and unmistakably beautiful at the same time in her appearance. What happened next was not exactly what he had in mind when he walked up behind Becky.

Many things happened simultaneously as the mans hand was making a motion for the tap, which he presumed would elicit a good morning, or a 'don't bother me',at the least. Becky saw a minute change in the expression Josh was showing; his hand was heading toward his Colt; Beckys kicked chair flew across the room; She turned and had the man by the throat; His legs were kicked out from under him; He hit the ground flat on his back with a strong pair of hands around his neck. " I'm sorry--I'm sorry," he choked out. " "Fucks the matter with you, fella," Becky hissed at him in a very serious tone. It all took place within one and a half seconds and now the writer was explaining or trying to, while Josh was re-holstering his Colt. Becky had a firm grip on his throat and the other patrons had gotten up and quickly moved as far away from this unexpected action as could be done, within the confines of the small diner.

"Listen, mister. You get as far away from us as possible! You understand me?" She had released his throat and he had been finally able to explain who he was and what he wanted. She let him up and shoved him away from their table. He reluctantly continued the motion she had started him on and finally the other diners began to slowly move toward the tables they had occupied before the incident, all the while keeping a close watch on the wild girl with the luminous eyes.

'Aw-fuck this. Let's go, Josh. We got us a room. We got us a room, boy!! Let's get to it. Whudya' say?" " I don't know how I could be more ready, Josh said. " Me too, honey. Me too," she replied and felt the same little moist message she had felt time and again over the years, when she had thought of the very situation that was going to become reality for her and Josh--soon.

She stood before the window that overlooked Main street. The ongoing drunken revelry was of no concern to her now. The lace curtain that appeared as if some ones grandmother had most likely made, hung in the window frame and moved in and out slowly, driven by a gentle breeze. Her clothing was folded and placed on the lone chair in the small room and she was turned slightly to her left ,which revealed her left breast in profile to Josh. He was sitting quietly on the foot of the bed, watching. She had taken her hair loose from the folds Josh had made and pinned up for her some days before. She had brushed through it again and again with the lithe, rhythmic movements which came naturally to her in all endeavors, regardless of purpose. It fell below her waist in a cascade of curls and golden highlights.

She was in the final day of her female time of the month and had discarded the cloth that she had straddled the previous few days. She was not sure if the dollops of moisture that dripped from her onto the worn carpet were the last of her period or were merely the natural fluid that came from her when she was aroused. It was of no consequence she knew, for Josh loved her totally and therefore it meant little, if anything. She knew he was ready for her, regardless of the source of it.

Josh had shed his clothing as well and as he watched her, his manhood nudged his stomach in appreciation of her inordinate beauty and the anticipation of what was to happen next for them. He had been watching her for forty minutes or so, but he knew she would stand before him for hours, if he so desired. She knew it also.

He rose from the bed and approached her. She did not move. He gently pushed against her and her head lay back onto his shoulder as she savored the familiar smell of him. Josh put his hands in front of her as far down as he could reach and with the tips of his fingers, trailed them up her thighs, up her sides and across her breasts. Her nipples reacted to this soft stroking and he continued to arouse her in this manner.

She reached back and forced her hand between them and firmly gripped his manhood. She moved the skin up and down for him as he kneaded her breasts and the rate of their breathing picked up considerably. As they continued to stroke and press each other, Josh was burning up with desire for her. He felt himself reaching an end after five or six minutes of her touch and began breathing in small gasps as she continued to stroke him. He made a sound that she knew well and he squirted on the small of her back several times. He did not stop holding her breasts tightly. She released him and with her right hand, took as much of his semen from her back as she could reach, and rubbed it on her breasts, as he moved his hand for her to do so.

She turned to embrace him and they held each other for a time. Josh turned toward the bed and they moved a little awkwardly in reaching it. Not wanting to release their embrace, but finally having to do so, he lowered her gently to the bed and he now could see her most private of womanly parts, for she was not shy about her womanhood when it came to Josh. They had seen themselves naked forever, it seemed, and she knew that he would respond in a loving way no matter what she did.

Josh sat between her legs and began to massage her from the tuft of her pubic hair, up her stomach and on to her breasts , with special attention being paid to them. They were firm and lay a little to the sides, but by stroking them from the sides to the center of her chest, they appeared as they did when she stood.

Within a few minutes , his manhood was erect again and he moved down her body until he was looking directly at the most private part of her womanhood. He had tasted and smelled her sweet earthy womanhood before many times and she had let him know in no uncertain terms which little part was the most important to her. He began flicking his tongue over her lightly from the bottom of her opening to the top and then began to thrust his tongue inside her and then out to the top and over the little button-like part again and again. He knew that it would eventually make her stomach and her breasts quiver and jerk and put her in a familiar place of ecstasy.

In due time, she extended her arms to him in a gesture and said -"come into me now." Josh lowered himself onto her and she reached down to help him find the proper place to enter her. He tried to push into her, but pushed too gently and he could not enter. She whispered to him, "push harder, Josh--push harder." " I don't want to hurt you, Becky. I couldn't stand to hurt you." " Go ahead , honey," she whispered. Have you ever known me to worry about pain?" Josh pushed harder and slipped himself halfway into her and she sighed and said --" Yes. Do it. Do it." Soon, they were tight together belly to belly and they began to move in pleasant opposition, all the while each looking into the eyes of the other. Their eyes were glistening with moisture and their hearts were full of love. They continued for an hour or so this way, in total amazement at what had been awakened in themselves. The second hour was done at a faster pace, the orgasms seeming to be endless for her. The last fifteen minutes, they were as wild animals thrusting --thrusting against each other mightily, with the clawing and scratching matching the intensity of the passion.

They lay with their bodies entangled in relief with Joshes left arm rubbing her body softly, as they looked at each other in wonder. Josh laughed and asked her how in the world they had waited so long for the coupling. " Becky agreed , but allowed as how it was for others that they had waited, and not for themselves.

After awhile, Josh said contentedly, "I'm hungry now. You?" " Yeah. Let's go find Lonnie and get something to eat,"Becky said. And let's don't be be forgettin' what we done here. 'Cuz I think we need some practice---hear?" " Yes mam. I agree on that. " And don't call me mam--or I'll have to hurt-cha!" Becky said with a smile. "Damn, girl. You already done that!!"

The door flew open with a loud bang, taking with it several long slivers of wood from around the frame. Three men entered the room with guns drawn. Two were small in stature and resembled one another remarkably. One was much larger and had some expensive clothing on. The three were hollering at the two forms in the bed almost incoherently. It was obvious that they were very nervous and could not believe their luck at catching the dangerous girl sleeping. And in fact, it was extremely lucky, for Becky was known for her ability to detect anyone that approached her, awake OR asleep.

The hollering continued and guns were waved and pointed, while Josh and Becky dressed themselves and began to think about what needed to take place next. One of the small men had some three foot loops of good hemp rope slung over one arm in anticipation of just such an outcome as this. " I'll tie 'er up real good," one of the small men said, as he started around the bed. "STOP", shouted the large man. The small man stopped and looked inquisitively at his larger cohort. "You dumb shit---she'll kill you if you get close to 'er. Toss those ropes to the boy so he can tie 'er up. Use your head, man. She'd kill you just like she did that dumb-ass giant in the ring."

Becky had not moved or shown any change of expression, but when the Brute was mentioned, Josh asked what giant they referred to. Shut up was the answer to his question and since there were guns pointed at him, it seemed reasonable to comply.

Josh reluctantly tied Beckys hands and was told to then push her onto the bed and tie her feet. He did so and thereafter submitted to the tying of his hands and feet. " Now hows we 'gonna get these people outta' here? We can't just carry 'em out tied up like that." asked one of the brothers. The big man shook his head a little at the thickness of the other man and said -" Roll 'em up in those blankets, one for each, but mind not to suffocate 'em. It's four in the morning, so not many will be awake and if they are, they'll be drunk.

It went as smoothly as the big man had figured and the newly married couple were soon laying in the back of the buckboard that had been parked behind the hotel. " Brothers," the big man said, as they pulled down the narrow alley, " We are in luck for sure tonight. We got this beautiful piece of womanhood all to ourselves for as long as we want to do anything we want. Yes sir," he said as reached back to feel and squeeze one of Beckys breasts. " Yes sir," he repeated. "This is gonna be good." " Joshes face was red and he was grinding his teeth, but he lay still and tears came to his eyes at the helplessness of their current lot in life. Becky lay still and never changed her expression. When one of the brothers leaned back and began to knead her breasts, Becky lay still and did not change her expression.

They came out of the alley, turned left twice and started east on Main Street. It was still dark and the gas lanterns were lit along the street on both sides, giving off enough light to see the drunken bodies littering each side of the thoroughfare as they passed. The horse pulling the buckboard knew exactly where to go, as most horses do when it's home they're heading. The men were grinning in anticipation of what was to come for them. The boy? "Hell, let him watch. He might learn a thing or two."

Karla leaned over the windowsill and took in the sights of what was left of the night on Main Street, Sonora. God, she was sore. Those "sportin' women" back in the little town in which she had run into Becky, had basically beat her black and blue. All she'd done was enter the bar and take up with a cowpuncher, hoping to make herself a little traveling money. Or maybe set up there and continue her "sportin" ways. The three whores figured there was just about the right amount of whores in town at that particular time, so when they lured her out back of the bar on a pretense of friendship and a smoke, she went willingly. They had beaten her with their fists and a board one found laying in the dust. They had done a damn good job of ruining her day.

She'd be in bigger trouble now if anyone from that town ever caught her. She had snuck upstairs when all the customers had either had their pleasure or had passed out drunk and had stolen all the money the whores had hidden; at least all she could readily find. It wasn't a bad haul. It was somewhere over one hundred dollars, but that wasn't the worst of it. She had stolen a horse to escape the wrath of the local whores and for that act of thievery, she could get the rope.

She left the window, crossed the room and looked in the mirror mounted on the top of a chest of drawers and admired the job the whores had done on her. Thorough. Very thorough. The face that looked back at her was black from her forehead to her chin and her left eye was swollen and closed. No telling what the rest of her body looked like. Probably the same as her face, but it hurt too much to try pulling her clothing off.

She went back to the window, looked down again and began to watch the only object that seemed to be moving on the street below. It happened to be a buckboard. When it passed below her, she could see three men, one large man and two small men riding on the buckboard with two horses tied to the back of it. They were not moving fast and when they came to the ornamental gas light below, she saw a pair of bodies laying in the back. She presumed the bodies were a couple of the dead that inevitably became that way at celebrations such as she had seen earlier.

She idly watched them pass, but was startled when she saw what were without doubt, a pair of eyes that she knew very well on one of the bodies in the back of the buckboard. Panic and confusion were now her immediate companions. " What the fuck? Why is Becky in the back of that---oh shit. I gotta do somethin'. I gotta'----. She turned to run and banged her knee on the low table in front of the couch where she had tried to sleep. "sonuvabitch!!" She took the gun and ammunition belt of the sleeping 'sportin lady' who had offered her a temporary place to stay and took the stairs down toward the lobby, two steps at a time. She slammed into the outer door, ignoring the pain of her beaten body and started after the buckboard. It was already past the fork in the road at the east end of Main Street and had taken the trail to the left, instead of the one on the right that went up to Jackson and then to Reno. She just got a glimpse of the wagon as it disappeared from sight on the northeastern trail. " Damnit. Damnit!! I gotta' get to the stables and get me another horse." She had turned the stolen horse loose on the edge of town and there was no telling what had become of it. " She was running as well as she could and soon reached the stables.
