As a native northern New Yorker, knowing full well this state is a lovely shade of purple, due to the number of liberals in the larger cities, and many devoted Republicans in the rural areas... I am hoping the decline in NY residency means that all the MAGA folks are moving to Floridi where it is safe and secure for them, not to mention less taxation, and much warmer. Enjoy Floridi. Please live there year round, and vote there. Thanks.
The State of New York can be authoritian in some aspects also. Just different. If I was attending one of the nice upstate universities, and I expressed that I felt threatened: there would an attempt to help. But if i was Downstate, and riding on Metropolitian Transit, and expressed that I was un-safe, I would be hushed up by my betters. New York has lost a few Jewish Citizens to Florida. They have a good antenna for injustice and mob rule. So lets not get too carried away.
I was thinking of NYC City Council member, Tiffany Caban. Tiffany Cabán's claims about subway violence anger victim
Anyone is better than Trump and at least with Ron, you always know where he's going and where's he's coming from, without changing direction in midstream and then for saying he was never in that part of the lake. This makes it really hard to separate fact from fiction and even though we should always assume that it's mostly fiction. Not to say that DiSantis has not been turning me off of late with sticking his nose where it doesn't belong and for sticking to Government matters first and foremost. As for Trump, I don't know how he could ever stick to running the country even if he sincerely tried, with so many other things he has going on, to contend with, which is enough in itself for him not to be President ever again. Pence is on the news, as we speak and for saying that his former boss should never be president again because of asking him to go against the constitution on Jan. 6th. And how about Jan. 6th and is that not enough in itself for kicking this man out of the voting booths? Then along comes Christie as a viable option, so the saga continues and for promising to be a good and exciting one.
Thart's Joe Biden hugging "imperial Wizard" Strom Thurmond, FDR with his mentor Josephus Daniels who started the Wilmington NC race riot, and it was LBJ who famously said he'd "have those fucking ni**ers voting Democrat for the next 200 years". Nothing's changed, there was no 'switch'. Democrats are racial bigots, always were, and always will be.
Oh FFS!! Give us a damn break on the “irrelevant to todays current situation” with these history lessons.
I really believe that one of the purposes of life is to learn and grow and that a changing environment is a catalyst. The last Republican I voted for was Richard Nixon….we know how that worked out. Sorry…..but this is not 1952 and Republicans have spiraled downward since Eisenhower. If I saw the Republicans give a shit about the environment, other racial and ethnic groups, our gay, trans and lesbian neighbors and relatives….any thing except wealth and power, I’d change my mind. I’m still waiting, I’m still waiting, I’m still waiting……
So the Democrats haven't changed a bit? Consider all that LBJ did to bring down the Ku Klux Klan. Consider that Biden has appointed a record number of black judges, including one to the supreme court. And his vice president is a half black woman. In June 1941 Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 8802, which created the Fair Employment Practices Committee (FEPC). It was the most important federal move in support of the rights of African Americans between Reconstruction and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The President's order stated that the federal government would not hire any person based on their race, color, creed, or national origin. Millions of African Americans and women achieved better jobs and better pay as a result. Quite progressive for the time! Do your research Coach!
Also a KKK member of congress ... Robert Byrd (Democrat) Robert Byrd was a force to be reckoned with in the U.S. Senate, where he broke virtually every record for longevity and continuous service. By the time he died, in 2010, Byrd had been in the Senate for 52 years, with eight more in the House. He was the last living senator to have voted to add a state to the Union, he was the only senator to have cast over 18,000 votes, and in his 60-plus years of public service, Byrd never once lost an election. Unfortunately, that last record includes the time he was unanimously elected Exalted Cyclops of the KKK chapter he founded and built into a major force.
At the time of his death, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), issued a statement mourning his passing. The NAACP’s President and CEO remarked: “Senator Byrd reflects the transformative power of this nation. Senator Byrd went from being an active member of the KKK to a being a stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act and many other pieces of seminal legislation that advanced the civil rights and liberties of our country”. Your efforts at historical revisionism leave much to be desired!
Pete Buttigieg continues to get my vote. Ron DeSantis, not so much. ‘I don’t understand the mentality’: Buttigieg reacts to video shared by DeSantis campaign (yahoo.com)
