Let me explain part of the dilemma.

You seem to be saying that you want change but believe that change can only come when people are forced into it by the bitter hardship of deprivation. Yet you say you work for an NGO now all the Non Governmental Organisations I know and the many people I know that have or do work for them claim they do it to change the world into a better place.

Don’t you see the contradiction?

You think that only by making the world a worse place and making peoples lives more miserable will change come along.

Don’t you think you should resign your place so that someone that does can take your place that agrees more with the NGO philosophy of building rather than your own of substantial destruction?

First of all what would you mean by ‘progressive’, is that a lefie future if so what kind of left wing philosophy?

Next how do you know if your ideas of a ‘Progressive reconstruction’ are the same as your fellow travellers in this venture such as Rat, who seems to be a right wing libertarian? Whose ideas win out and how is that decided?

Another thing is the conclusion itself, why do you believe the rich and powerful will not be able to weather the “collapse” or even come out of it stronger? The wealthy are a lot more cushioned than others are and if not completely stupid have devious assets. It is the middle and lower classes that such recessions hit the most to survive many have to sell what they have cheaply and those that have the resources (such as the wealthy) can then buy them up. Now it is possible that in such circumstances ground based movements might pull down the wealthy but it is equally possible that the wealthy can rise private armies to protect their assets.

The problem is that when a recession hits or a revolution happens it is very hard to control how events will occur just wishing some things (like a ‘who posits no manifesto of his own beliefs whilst decrying others of not doing so.

I often put forward my views and am happy to discuss them but I’m trying to understand yours? You claim to want change and to be a man of action but you seem to be telling people that it is not worth voting, that a revolution isn’t going to happen any time soon, and that the best thing to do is to wait around until some possible future “collapse” that just might possibly bring about “Progressive reconstruction”.

Pressed Rat is a very informed person and I do believe what he says has a lot of truth to it. He has backed up his statements time and time again and he gives you his credibility. But you would be an idiot to even think for one second you could change whats going on in todays world. To me it would be impossible to undermine the system and change its course.

Well the simple answer must be that it depends on what the conspiracy theory is.
If it becomes proven fact, for example, that the British royal family executed dianna,
then it is a hypocrisy gone too far. They are meant to be the shining example to
English people of what the state represents. So can we now all just execute whoever we want? If that could be proven - then the logical position dictates they should be removed from office and put on trial.

Lol This whole thread got so out of control because people, mostly Shaggie and Bulbus, claim to be liberals and for free speech but once Rat comes and says something they disagree with all they do is bitch at him and try to catch him in little screw ups to discrdit him and almost never actually debate him on the facts. I know it sounds like im his PR representative or something right now but I can't help but think that, it's so transparent in all their posts replying to him.

 

Not all liberals think exactly alike. That's why they are liberal because they don't believe in strict conformism like the neocons do. Besides, I don't recall Shaggie or Balbus ever claiming to be liberal. They sound more like moderates..like many of us, here, are.
