i didn't go to college/university or high-school/secondary school.... i think university is a great thing, i am envious of it.... but the truth is i think education only serves you as far as you serve it- how committed to it you are,.... i learned construction from my family,.. and it did me well.
At the college level, this concept is rapidly going away, as a rising percentage of the costs are passed along to the student. Apparently today's politicians and voters see state universities as benefiting only the students, not society at large. When I was in college, state tuition was almost trivial. Church schools are common around here. They indoctrinate more than they educate. And very few adults are qualified to teach all subject areas to their own children, especially at the high school level. All these kids face limits to their future potential that their peers do not, through no fault of their own. This is so unfair! Nobody gets to choose their parents, obviously. One of the good things about online education is that everybody takes the same tests. Unless an adult is helping the kid take those tests, the school system will find out whether or not this learning method is working for that particular student. I see this option having the potential to bring down the cost of higher education. Students at that level are much more self-motivated.
