If you see opposition in the world at large, you cannot expect to see joy without opposition. As long as our care for the world is uneven then so is our joy.
a word like "joy" inherently implies it's direct opposite, so it's retarded to try and conceive of a joy with "no opposite" it doesn't even make sense. It's the nature of language and it's the nature of even nature, it's how the mind works. kind of like that old gag - "Don't picture your mother naked.....whoops you just did".
Pain and suffering do not fit into joy. Pain and suffering, as neo points out, fits with pleasure and excitement. You are unfamiliar with joy in general. Think of a moment when you felt overwhelming gratitude, this is joy. The opposite of gratitude is resentment. We were taught in this world to regard things more or less. Family is more important, a friend perhaps a little less and so on. We inhibit ourselves through mistrust and further drive suspicion by trying to regulate our neighbors behavior. Not a lot to be thankful for there.
AHH, too be young again. Desos, you need to readjust your telescope a bit. You are seeing what is immediately in front of you and in the present moment, look at it from a much broader perspective. If there were some pandemic that swept the earth and a 100 million people died it would be tragic for sure, but from the broader perspective of the entire "passion play" those 100 million are insignificant and just part of the play, as are you and I.
actually, it is. haha. the things i say i say out of the love in my heart because i wish every one of you could come to the revelation that i have. but in the end i am pretty indifferent, so it doesn't matter to me if i get flamed or not. and that's a good way to describe what i'm talking about as far as joy/ecstacy. because it is eternal as far as you can discover it and bring it into being. for example, do you think that a sunflower plant would grow if it was in the darkness? no, it would first have to have light to illuminate it. so you must first come into the light -- which is a whole lot more complicated than you might imagine. because sometimes, the darkness gets stuck to the bottom of your shoes and you track it in (lol). not that this can even begin to be described in a single paragraph or anything: we experience our feelings as a result of our expectations and our standard of what we percieve as true. we are disapointed, because our expectations -- if we are to be truly honest with what we desire -- hardly ever actually match up with the reality of life. but if we could realise that this is really rooted in 'self' then we can see that it is only our own selfish desire that leads us to the places that we end up. so then true joy cannot be experienced as being a part of self. true joy comes from outside of yourself, it is divine in nature. but then again, this can't lead to apathy. because truth cannot and should not yield to untruth. i am fairly young. but the reason i say the things i say is not because i am ignorant, youthful, and hopeful, but because the things i say i have experienced as being part of a reality. in actuality, all of the things i say do exist. i challenge you to find them.
Well, can't argue with that logic! Yeah Desos, and everyone in this thread is trying to get you to come to the revelations that they have had.
this whole post is a perfect example of what i fear the most out of myself. I never want to get like this. Desos, i'm not necessarily disagreeing with your words; what you say might be true, but all i'm going to say is be careful about how you say such things. You sound like some kind of messiah or something. You're gonna end up fucking yourself over. Honestly though you sound like a wannabe Jesus Christ and it's gonna piss people off if you continue down that path. But do what you want.
He sounds like a wannabe messiah, which is the stuff of sociopaths to be honest. Desos is attempting to take the high ground in this conversation, by claiming that he "only lovingly wants us to realize the revelation that he has come unto" which insinuates that he has something to teach while we have something to learn - not a very good basis for honest discussion. I don't mean to offend, but I get the feeling that this calling and valetudinarian desire for a "psychedelic revolution" was born out of a need for self-importance. It's always good to remember that the man does not make the times, the times make the man.
My friend, the "we" you speak of is just too small. And though you, and I, and us, all want to embrace life and love with passion and purity, there are just too many "them," and it has always been that way. It will never stray from this way because just not enough people care, and never will.
Why do you yet again make the assumption that others in this forum have NOT had the same type of revelation as you? Is it because some don't completely agree with you? Your sounding pretty dogmatic and religious about it all my friend. How many people have been killed over the centuries because they didn't agree with someone else's revelation? Do you ever consider the possibility that maybe someone such as myself has come to the same type of revelations and realizations as you, but they have been tempered and refined by years of life, experience, and further reflection? We have been over this before, there are some things that are only manifest in a life after living longer. Wisdom is the biggest thing that only comes with experience and years. You have all these "truths" to share and you want to sound the rally cry, yet you haven't yet experienced even half of the joys and sorrows life has to offer. Continue on your road, but always keep in mind that the more you grow and learn, the less you will be so certain of. That is what I meant by the comment about your age. You are absolutely convinced of the "rightness" of your "revelation" and are certain that you are one of few that have made this discovery. You are behaving just like every other generation of youth before you and every one to follow. Nothing new or revolutionary here Desos, just a different date on the calendar. lose the buddhist idealogy. It's very limiting. You say your ideas are your own, but they sure do sound familiar
The whole problem is the fact that you're even distinguishing a "we" and "them" in the first place. This is the root of the "problem". Don't make that seperation man. It's that seperation alone is what divides us from the Al-Qaida. From the terrorists' perspective, we are the evil ones, because we are the "others" or "them", and what they are doing is just and holy. In the same way that from our perspective it's vice-versa. what does valetudinarian mean? And that last thing you said is epic...regarding the times.
a state of feeble health, or an adjective for something that is related to a person who is sickly and I didn't invent that last line, it's a fairly famous quote but I can't remember who said it.
