    More the conjecture of nothingness.

The idea of nothingness is so foreign to our reality and universe that even when we try to reduce it down to nothingness we a still stuck with a something that became everything.
Nothingness does not exist in the known universe.

Further to confuse nothing with something makes both terms meaningless, neither one being wholly understood.

Yea, i get that. The only notion i have of nothingness that makes sense to me comes from spiritual teachers, who just point to it as That which witnesses the whole universe. The Awareness that witnesses birth, death, the beginning, the end; the unborn and undying nothingness blah blah blah...

    Nothing seeing nothingness
The mind's invention of substantiality and meaning is the fundamental paradox that almost every spiritual tradition mentions.
(I'm aware this is only my belief)

So it's like meaning and substance is in fact completely empty and meaningless, but perhaps that actually gives meaning meaning? (if that makes sense)

what if it was once dual, and then the negative side fell away? or rather, one half of the duality fell away. wouldn't there still be history of the duality thus imbuing the remainder with meaning?

society has changed. nature hasn't. neither has the ultimate truth that we all need food, and water.

i'm not saying i'm in some higher position to determine these things. it's common sense. when you look at the world today in comparison with how it has always been, and the series of events that have occurred throughout history that have lead to the present, and then contrast it to the spiritual and natural understandings of the ages, then it becomes pretty obvious that society today has strayed away from the truth. infact, all of humanity has fallen away from the truth, but it really just comes down to the question of whether you are willing to accept that and strive to do the best that you can in light of our inherent and inexorable flaws.

but we do know about what is on this side of death. so would it make any sense to make actions based on what is through the other side? no. but it would make sense to live best according to the things which are shown to us and according to our hearts, and our conscience, and our soul. we have nothing that tells us that after death things will be much different at all. but all that we can do is live the best way we can, and according to the things which are persisting throughout this life. for example society and the world today, are not persisting. neither are material possesions or temporary pleasure. but wisdom, revelation, and nature, are always persisting.

but we still must be instruments of the tao. we are the tao.

well yea, but you realise that if you had communion with the terrorists, they would kill you. is that a price you are willing to pay for peace? it needs to be.

if there was a 'right' then it wouldn't differentiate itself from the 'wrong.' but that would also mean that it would be looked down and spat on, abused, and slandered. because not everyone is going to realise the truth for what it is. are you ready to be abused and still not lose your conviction, even in the face of death?

if man was gifted with imaginings then why would we be imbued with such a vain gift? doesn't every part of us serve some sort of purpose? whether it be walking, breathing, or conceptualisation.

    it just is.

but still again man can imagine. for some reason man has this 'purpose' shaped hole in his heart. which leads me to believe that even though a man's purpose is often miscontrued and wrongly understood, that we do actually have a purpose.

"fell away"? lol. Can you imagine suddenly "cold days" falling away, leaving us only with "hot days"? It's impossible in any context man. You are just liguistically flexing, but there is no substance to what you say, it does not correspond to anything in reality. Can you remove the N side of a magnet and leave only the S side? "meaning" is what we as humans read into things, not what is latent in them.

is not what you think it is. You are romanticizing the past, not realizing that a thousand years ago you would have been writing on your papyrus forum about how the local magistrate has fallen away from the psychedelic truths of our fathers, and how we need to take the revolution back to the streets where it used to be. Human history is cyclical Desos.

You can no more be an instrument of the Tao than you can be an instrument of causality.

What is the purpose of dew on a flower?

so sometimes you do understand. :)

I think it is less correct to say that we have some purpose "out there", than to say that we are imbued with the drive to make our purpose.

    Your putting the horse before the cart again. As society changes so does our understanding of what "nature" is. Simple and hopefully obvious example;
Before Einstein mankinds view and understanding of "nature" was vastly different that what we hold to be "natural" today. So any conclusions you may draw about "nature" are inconclusive and tentative at the very best, because they are based on information that is incomplete.

What you keep vainly grasping at is some ideal state of nature that is a'priori to man. Sorry, it doesn't exist, or rather since it is some ideal with mankind on the "outside" of it, for all intents and purposes in this discussion or any discussion concerning humans it is meaningless. Let's stop talking pie-in-the-sky ideals and deal with the reality that is before us.

Actually you have repeatedly put yourself in a positon of "higher authority" otherwise this thread would have died out long ago.
What "truth" has mankind fallen away from?
Boy for someone talks about Buddhism frequently, your thoughts sure are Judeao-Christian.

Ok, how in the great holy monkey fuck would YOU or I have any idea of "how it has always been"???
Desos the only thing you have to go by is what has been recorded by MAN of our history. And we all know that the historical record is flawless and completely nuetral throughout, right?

There you go again with that egocentric ideation.
The terrorist is going to be shown completely different "things" according to thier heart than a Southern Baptist preacher, don't you think? So which one should trust what thier "soul" tells them?
But I guess the one that is correct and recieving "ultimate truth" is the one that agrees with you.
