What is happening today on College campuses across the U.S. is highly reminiscent of student protests in the 60s and early 70s. The support among college students and the public at large for the Palestinian people is good to see. It means these students are actually paying attention to world events, like we did during the Vietnam War.

However some people are saying that students are just upset over their own situations now and using these protests to vent their frustrations at the world in general. That may be true for some, but I see it as more of an awakening, a virtual Arab Spring whereby the students spread their protest and begin to unite and feel their power.

You can see how this scares the powers that be. House Speaker Johnson is freaking out calling for the National Guard to deal with the students. And we know how that usually turns out. Like on May 4th, 1970.

Remember, the people united will never be defeated. That's why they divide us anyway they can.

So what do think the impact of these protests will be? Are they helping the Palestinian cause? Will they have a lasting effect on students and will we see more social protests against the government by students?

All their protests will accomplish nothing but make Americans hate them...more. It's a shit situation, but the solution seems quite simple, stop supporting and harboring Hamas who hides behind women and children and hospitals, return the hostages, end their hostilities, let aid in. Never piss off the Jews......

I think they could easily backfire, by getting young people to do something stupid--like not vote in the forthcoming presidential election or worse, voting against Biden. Biden and Netanyahu are at odds, while Trump and Netanyahu are buddies. Trump seems to be far less inhibited than Biden in using military force. Be careful what you wish for, and how you vote!

And this whole attitude of some of the young voters is quite childish "oh, I am not crazy about either candidate, so I am just not going to vote". Know who does vote quite religiously? The crazies. A no vote may as well be counted as a vote for tRump.

It is interesting that people are swayed so much by their party affiliation. Trust me, I sympathize with Palestinian people, but also with the Jewish people. Both have their plight, but Hamas are just terrorists and using their own people as cover. It is a travesty that is unfortunately unavoidable. That being said, there are horrible situations all around the globe. You just hear about the ones that our politicians want you to hear about. Usually it involves a scheme to make them rich. Unfortunately also that is common amongst ALL forms of government EVERYWHERE. Rulers are rulers for that primary goal. Money is one motivation, but power is even better that money. That all being said, I am truly grateful to be living in America. It is by far the best nation on earth that allows its citizens in general a much higher standard of living. Our poor live like the middle class of many countries. Most of Europe does not have a middle class remotely like ours. I just came back from France and Italy. 99% of all citizens either drive tiny pieces of crap cars or none at all. They live in tiny apartments etc etc. Just the prevalent availability to good food and stores with anything you might need seems to be unique here in the US. It is horrible that patriotism in the US has been successfully eroded in the last generation. That as well as the work ethic. People that don’t want to work end up with low self esteem and psychological problems.it is sad.

Don't get me going on millennials. If I see one more resume that details a gap year to find themselves, or another that's had 7 jobs in the last 5 years, I'm gonna puke. They want everything now that we worked hard for 20 years to get. How bout this....let's show up to work regularly for a few years, do your job, and we'll talk about careers...

People who started the war are not being held accountable on campus.

33,000 Palestinians killed, about two-,thirds women and children....and that doesn't account for the bodies under the rubble......

And the world m, esp US, stands back and allows the fanatical zionists to continue the slaughter, while supplying them with the bombs to do it!

It's unbelievable that with the enlightened societies of 2024 the world just lets them go on with it.....for 6 months now!

The Jewish nation is treating the Palestinians as the nazis treated them.....and, since 1948, and before, they have done all they can to evict and eliminate them from their lands and homes.

With such treatment it is inevitable that a extreme fanatical group such as Hamas will evolve.

And from this slaughter will come the next members of Hamas or equivalent ......

It is an abomination that began in 1922 and will ensure that the world will still be dealing with this and it's 'fall-outs' in 2122......and it might be nuclear fallout long before that!

I'm wondering why they're protesting Israel, who didn't start the Gaza war....

    Instead of.....

Putin, who DID start the Ukraine war.

More to the point, I'm wondering why none of the adults I'm hearing discuss this in the media ever bring this up.

Why? Thirty thousand civilian casualties including twenty thousand women and children. And the slaughter goes on. That’s why.

I try and distance myself from both politics and religion, and I see this war as both.

That said, when I was a small child, I remember conflict between Israel and Palastine dominating the news cycle--seemed like constantly, but in reality was probably every few years. From what I could tell, both sides attacked each other, both sides retaliated, both sided killed civilians, both sides blew each other up, but both sides weren't the bad guys. One side was unquestionably the good guys and the other side was so obviously the bad guys. As a kid raised to believe two wrongs didn't make a right, this confused me.

Now, I'm 44 years old, and I'm still confused.

I'm not pro-Israel or pro-Palestine: I'm pro-peace. Now if we can just figure out how to achieve it...

If this goes too far, and it likely already has, these Jewish college students will never forget the things done to them personally and the things spoken and screamed to their face. It may turn a whole generation of young Jewish college graduates into lifelong Republicans. Which may not be a bad thing considering the fact that Ocasio-Cortez and her squad apparently have the support of a majority of the Democratic Party. If Marjorie Taylor Greene had said the exact words that came out of the mouth Omar and the other squad members, Democrats in Congress would be having fits. But since its their own precious "woman of color" cohort spewing this Anti-Semitic hate speech not one word is said against them by their fellow Democrats.
