As far as the retriever comments. Ive had 3 goldens. None would bring the item back that you threw, even after months of training. This latest one came to us at 8 weeks, scared of water. If its not in his bowl or rain, he's petrified. This wasn't taught and is not a "genetically programmed" trait. Just sayin. Exceptions to everything.
^^^that has gotta be sarcasm, right?? A pitbull and hippy go hand in hand. They are a very gentle breed actually. I recently found a pitbull puppy roaming around my apartment building. He was injured and seemed to have been dumped and already having a hard life. He seemed so grateful to me for taking him in. He is so sweet and loves to cuddle. I couldn't keep him in my small apartment, so I found him a wonderful home and I've been getting updates on him. He goes down in history of all the amazingly sweet pits I've met! Here he is:
Pit bulls are not the problem and never have been, irresponsible owners are. There are no vicious breeds, only breeds that are not trained.
I have a Lab thats the same way, retrieves once and hates water. I'll stick with my big ole Doofus Labs. Two parts brilliant, one part sack of rocks.
Harley is out and out terrified of the water, crowds of more than 6 or 8 people, would rather be at home than in any public place. He's got "issues" and phobias, but we work with them and not against him. At least if he isnt into being in public, I dont have to ask about places allowing dogs and I'll never have to worry about a hot truck. (Ill save the rant about hot vehicles and pets for another day.) Hes never so much as attacked a bird and I know Ill never have to worry about it. Hes a great little nurse. If the boys are outside playing and get hurt, hes right on it and has come to get me when the boys are together and one is hurt but being attended to by the other. We've had regular labs, goldens, st. Bernards, poodles, a mastif and several "mutts" and I must say the saints and the goldens have been the best. :daisy:
I was stalked by pit bull. I don't know how many people have experienced being stalked by an animal, but it's not pleasant. The owner of the same dog, who assured me that this dog wouldn't hurt a flea, was mauled by her "harmless" pit a month or two later. She was a fucking idiot and I would argue that around 50% of dog owners have no business being dog owners. I would put pit bull owners in my neck of the woods at about 90%. The breed is dangerous because of the damage they are capable of, and because they seem to attract fucking thugs and morons. I don't doubt that these dogs can be well trained and well behaved, but too many fucking morons own them, and the poor damn dogs usually end up paying the price for their owner's stupidity. I've been a dog owner my entire life. I fucking love dogs. I hate stupid pet owners.
Your dog is super cute!! I wish people would get over the whole pit thing. Pits are TRAINED to fight, not all pits are bad. I've had three pits in my lifetime. The first one my father had when I was a baby in diapers still. We lived right next to the Chattahoochee river in Northern Florida and my dad said that our pit Simon was in love with me. Anytime I would crawl too close to the river when my dad was working on his car Simon would grab me by the back of my diaper and take me to my dad.
What about no longer breeding the breeds that are the pit bulls? That allows the ones you know and love to have happy healthy lives without bringing more dogs to the planet. Granted, I'm for neuter and spay for all pets.
I don't see why. The man was attacked by a pitbull and defended himself. You can't blame him and I would have done the same. When dogs (any breed, or any other animal for that matter) goes crazy and is dangerous to people, they need to be put down. Even respectable APBT breeders have always put down their human agressive dogs, and still do.
