Sluttter, if you don't stop putting 'sincerely' at the end of your fucking sarcastic posts I'm gonna get seriously pissed. I realize this doesn't matter to you as we live thousands of miles away from each other and I'm very unlikely to hunt you down and beat you up but still - please stop, because you're not sincere at all, are you? Hey K, saw you posting thought I'd come and have a look. Seriously, Slutter, States like Iraq, Afghanistan... the States and the UK for that matter, they ensure security do they? btw CS Lewis was a nazi
haha i've always dug the sarcasm and sincerly, but check this out, back in the day people came together to form governments when man was against eachother. what im thinking of is like earth is one state so theres no enemies within the common species. why would cs lewis being a nazi piss off christians? was he one?
The irony here being that you clearly do not understand the concept of irony. On another note, what I meant was that if you kept putting sincerely on the end of your sarcastic posts I wasn't going to do anything about it, it just pisses me off that's all. Yep, the US protects it's citizens from foreigners quite succesfully, however, who's protecting the rest of the world from your (and our, the UK's) armies? And George Bush's head-in-the-sand take on the environment. And who's protecting foreigners from your entirely self-centered foreign policy? And who's protecting the poor in your country from exploitatian by the ruling classes? And so on. What KBlaze is talking about would be a largely natural state, only with even further increased security (over the Sovereign) and well being for the overwhelming majority It's just something I heard. My intent was to piss you off but I think I'll give up on that now cos you're clearly better at pissing people off than I am... Good for you! Didn't piss me off that time cos it was a sincere post. Life could be so much easier if we lived as one. We as people do not need to keep track of every little penny. It's a waste of time. The change doesn't have to be immediate or instantaneous, it'll be a peaceful transition. As more and more people live in the money-free system, and all their potentail is realised (or at least far more than in the monetary system) those with the money will be able to get less and less out of it because the people who create the wealth will no longer accept money as payment or need it to survive.
"What KBlaze is talking about would be a largely natural state, only with even further increased security (over the Sovereign) and well being for the overwhelming majority" hell yeah. it'd be THE most natural state, ever possible. It may very well be the end of societal-evolution. the next step would be taking it to the stars... then after 5000 years people would probably decide to have governments and it would sound like a good idea. we need comments from folks like slutter because they have the opposing view, so with his input we'd get all the bases covered. i'd like to see what he'd have to say about andy's, ed j's, wrat's, and my posts in the "money is an organizational tool" thread in globalization. if you have the time that is, your excellency.
Person A talking down to person B because they think person B doesn't understand irony, when person A thinks that irony is synonomous with sarcasm. That's ironic. A less immediate example: Someone has a really good idea for fixing the traffic in their town but gets stuck in traffic on the way to the town planning meeting, so the traffic never gets fixed. Geddit slutter? College education!
Andy: You're a moron, my freind. Sarcasm == a type of harsh, cutting humour. Irony == saying the opposite of what you mean. Irony can be a type of sarcasm. Examples: "Hey Andy, you should be a writer dude, because you know english so good" <- irony. "I love hipforums - it's full of such intelligent, thinking people" <- irony "andy is about as clever as GWB with a hangover" <- would be sarcasm if it was actually funny! Starting to get the picture now?
Where I come from, England (hence "English"), my examples of irony are correct. Slutter, do you want to argue any of the other things I said in the post with the irony comment or do you prefer to focus on the least relevant?
Andy, you're still a moron. Look those words up in a bloody dictionary! I'm English too, mate, and my definitions come from the Oxford ENGLISH Dictionary. Seriously, andy and kblaze, look it up! You just assume you know what irony means, but you've clearly never looked it up. What andy mentioned (traffic example) is just not irony! Irony describes words, not events - something someone SAYS can be ironic, but not something they DO.

Foreign aide almost inevitably ends up in the hands of kleptocracies. I'm not going to donate money so some 3rd world ruler can paint another coat of gold paint over his throne. Not to mention I agree with the PT Bauer theory- foreign aide only makes poverty worse.
Why don't all those celebrities spending millions on their homes and cars donate some of THEIR money? That seems like it would make sense...
