Nah, the one in question is fairly parent-friendly so long as they aren't too offended by mild critique of catholic priests.

My evangelical friend sat through it which means it is fairly safe, since he was one of the many appalled by Jerry Springer the Opera.

lol it's probably me that has it wrong,
I always thought metaphors were less direct, whereas a simile involves a comparison.

So "Metaphors are like a distorted mirror" is a simile
But "Sam the Simile tended always to be like some thing other than himself" would be a metaphor.

I'm several glasses into the bottle of wine I got for christmas so my capacity for good english is dwindling accordingly

I think both your examples are similes. Metaphors are like saying something literally IS something else when it isnt, or making an image to represent an idea...like the trough...I think I know there are different kinds of metaphors and similes. So could explain it

lol I think that's right, but you don't need to say the metaphor is something, some can just be a metaphor, like the insect in Metamorphosis, no direct allusions are made, but it is metaphorical
