comfortable circumstances are in the eye of the beholder. so are "lower classes".
and since the real world is in the forested mountains, yachts would be safely far way.
i don't need to impress anyone, just play with my toy making toys that don't need to impress anyone either.
nor does my idea of comfort have anything to do with impressing anyone. very nearly quite the opposite actually.
i do like to make pictures to give people ideas, but not ideas about me, ideas about how they can make and enjoy their own world.

wwydi technology were close enough to magic, and money a completely alien concept no one had ever thought of?

    Oh I wish!
I'd live in Hope, but Fear that greed, corruption and envy would rear its ugly head and tear down such a idyllic paradise

WWYDI: Following Global warning, an Ice break revealed an Alien artifact that resembled a craft of sorts?
Would you want it opened up, or left within the ice tomb?

i'd certainly be curious, but i'd knock politely on the door first. then scan it with every technology available for doing so.
(greed, corruption and envy, are all byproducts of the hatred of logic, which is not a biological imperative but a cultural accretion, that is a choice)

what would you do if you found a perfectly functional alien craft that appears to have been abandon (and of course no nations military has gotten there first)?

/\. As above I'd be curious, but seen too many Sci-fi films to also be cautious.
It would depend where it was of course but I think I'd try to conceal it - because as as yj Nations military became aware of such - No Good would come of it - IMO

i'd be very happy in a world like those my dreams take place in. which is mostly what they're about, though i seldom remember enough on waking to write anything down.

wwydi you were being evicted, and whatever laws might have given you anything you could do about it no longer existed because the government had overnight changed that much.
(like any other kind of natural or unnatural disaster, what would you grab?, where would you go?, that sort of thing)

shit bricks and damd sure wouldn't tell anybody. i would also quietly relocate as under the radar as i could, taking the money and little else.
although half a million doesn't really go that far these days.

i guess the practical thing to do would be to hold out enough to cover rent and groceries for a couple of months and stick the rest of it in the bank and wait however long it took the bank to release it before doing anything drastic. as for what i would do with whatever remained free and clear, would be to buy land i could live and build on, and the things i would need to do so.

i have a laundry list of other things, but that would be at the top of it. what i wouldn't do is try to see how fast i could go through it trying to impress anybody.

wwydi, a sitting u.s. president declaired himself dictator for life, then got tired of it, having gotten away with terrible things for decade or so, and then abdicated, and named you as his successor?

there was this place i was sent on day labour one time, and the dog (friendly enough dog) was playing with one in the front yard.
no idea if it was real. it looked real enough. these people who just wanted me to clean up their yard, but didn't have a broom or a rake,
had the whole 'adams family' thing going on. not over the top, but low enough key to be for real. and i presume you mean a human, not a cow or a zoological reproduction.
(there was a broom, it just wasn't resting on the ground or attached to anything and they didn't want me to use it for anything as menial as sweeping their patio)
(you might think i'm making this up, but i can tell you i have had a strange life in subtle and periferal ways)

well to answer your question i'd get ahold of the nearest univeristy anthro department, see if they could tell me how old it was, and what they new about the place,
and yes i'd take measurments and document the location.

wwydi, you were lost in the woods, obviously not further then you could walk in one day from where you could drive or walk to, but disoriented enough to not be too sure which animal trails led back to where, and you came upon a cabin, that had no door in the door way, no glass in the windows, not much obvious else besides a lot of dust. no footprints in the dust on the bare wood floor either.
just kind of partially overgrown, but the roof looked ok, most of it like it wouldn't leak or fall in, and the walls, except for the empty window and door frames kept out most of the wind.

not a large house, just a tiny two or three room cabin, no more then say 16x12 feet or so, but there is a trap door in the floor of the smaller of the two main rooms (the third and smallest had obviously been a kind of half bath, the ends of pipes were still there, but no fixtures. no stove or fridge in the corner of the largest room that had obviously served as a kitchen, no cabinets and again the ends of pipes, but no sink) shelves though, with a few rusty looking tin cans that the labels had long since been eaten off of by mold.

(i find it easier to answer these then think of the next one to ask)
