The new hipforums confuse me - "the noose". :(

I had to change nick, because the password for my old nick "the_noose" were suddenly wrong of some reason, right after hip forums changed recenrly.

I had some posts that I'd like to read and reply, but they're all suddenly gone! None of us got a warning by mail. And I got chocked when my old nick "the noose" was rejected at the login. The password I write is wrong, the system proclaim, but I'm definately sure it's the same password I've been using thousands of time before the 'new' hip forums!

So I had to register again - as you see my new nick is "wolf_at_door". But it took me half an hour before the system allowed me to post this thread.
I dont understand all this trendy web image shit. What was wrong about the old Hip Forums?
If it continues to be that difficult even to be logged in here, I must quit. I just wanted to tell you, -just because I don't wanna make you think that I don't want to answer if you ask me something. -I'm simply not allowed to post, for some reason.... this is an exception, for the reason of I-dont-know-why.....

So in case you wont see me anylonger, because of this apparently 'necessary' change of HipForums, I'll wish you'll all have a good time and thanks for good company.

they just got the site back up. Give them some time to work out the bugs before you take off. I was able to re-register w/ my same log-in and password, and post instantly. So just hang in there. I'm not really a fan of the new forums myself, but i'm sure it will grow on us. And i'm sure they will work out the bugs so it is once again very user friendly.

You're right, I'm just a little out of control. I'm not reactionary or against changes, but it was just a little chocking, and where have all the old threads gone? I cant view them - can you?

everything after march 2004 is gone unfortunatelly. I can look up link if you want!

 

I thought I was having trouble coping with the new format because I am getting OLD, so although I send you my sympathies, it makes me feel a lot better about how poorly I am coping with the changes!

The thing I think to remember is that Skip did not want to implement these changes all at once, but was forced to when the site crashed badly due to server cock-up! So I guess this is some kind of package deal forum that he has purchased, and we just have to bear with it and make it more personal by being ourselves...............

I'm sorry to hear about all that shit that happened to you... at first, when I registered again (good thing I could do it as Penny and with the same password!), I didn't understand why I couldn't post anything, but actually it was because I didn't confirm my regstration, because the confirmation e-mail arrived to my bulk folder!! So I saw it a million years later... it was a bit confusing and annoying at first, also I'm disapointed that we can't put pictures in our signatures anymore, but, by now I guess I'm used to the new forums! I start to like them a lot even... but my sentimental self admits that she prefered the old forums! Oh well. All that data gone sucks too... many important threads I wanted to reply have disapeared and I'm scared that some people from the French forum blame me for that! Because everytime sometimes was removed from the archive after a long period of time, they thought it was me who deleted it!!!! Like if I could do that... I'm only a moderator! Not even a supermoderator... yeah that's the new thing.

 

Please what is this supermoderator stuff! Seems very hierarchical for a hippy forum! If Penny is a moderator, Peace-Phoenix(UK and a few other forums) is a super moderator, what is Skip, king of the moderators,super super moderator ,chief special moderator or what?

Yeah, I know, all that moderating thing isn't very hippy, but, it's necessary! How many time have I had to delete stuff from this forum or the French one because it was completely out of the topic, insulting, violent, porno, etc... and banning people who are used to posting that kind of things is a big relief for the other members!

Supermoderators are moderator who moderate ALL the forums - moderators, like me, only the ones they are assigned. Skip is the administrator, the webmaster...

I'm glad you hung in there. Everything is gonna be OK. I'm still kinda new to the site, but had become very addicted about 2 1/2 weeks prior to "the crash". I've noticed things are getting better everyday though. Already more things have become available to us then when it first came up(or maybe i'm just noticing more). It does suck that all the old posts are gone, but there's nothin' you or I can do. It will just get better from here on out. And hopefully we can all find each other again. I read on another thread that alot of people are putting there old sign-on name in their signature so everyone will know who they are.

Pardon me, but...Aargh!
I returned to the forums today after a few days of absence, only to find the same annoyance as the noose did. After figuring out all users had been deleted, I managed to re-register with the same nick as before though, so it wasn't all that bad. What bums me out however, is that all the posts from the past couple of weeks are gone. This gives me nasty flashbacks of the same thing happening one or two years ago at a time when we had lots of discussions going on, putting a swift end to all discussion (who's motivated to refocus and write all their thoughts all over again?). I probably posted more in the past couple of weeks than I did throughout the last six months, so to lose all those discussions in every single forum is a major deja vu for me, which really makes me unmotivated to write new posts (this one could be gone again tomorrow). I will stay however, I will just not post a lot until my frustration has set back a little (and until I get used to the new look, I guess. This is all kind of confusing right now).

I'm so happy that you and "the noose" and everyone have decided to stay! Because we NEED you guys to keep the forum alive! We need all of you Europeans... and even non-Europeans are welcome here! Right?

 

Well, of course! And it seems like the forum is quite full of life at the moment. Hope it stays that way. (I'm already feeling better, sorry for complaining).

no, it's okay. It's not a catastrophe with a new beginning, and I'm not looking for any specific threads. I was thinking about people at this webcommunity in general. First I thought that all the earlier posts was deleted by purpose by some reason (and that's why I got angry). But later I heard that it was an accident. And that's ok. ofcourse. But it's just a little sad to think about all these open debates suddenly gone. But I'm not claiming anybody. It's just a little sad. But, well, let's start it again then. I'm ready.

I think Skip is fine. I just don't understand the reason for this new layout with cold colors instead of the good old warm colours. These cold blue shades make me freeze. I dont understand the reason why it's so cold, blue, and sterile.

It's not so bad...I'm used to it already. It just lacks the charm and uniqueness (if that's a word) of the old site. No one has died yet because of it, so I'm still a supporter.

I think it's fine now. It just took me hours to register last week, and the system went totally mad on my computer. So I just paniced. But it's a bit sad with all the lost data.
