Greetings my well-read brother Ellis.... hmmmm could erowid add it? heck we can't get these folks to chip in for the vaults. hosting costs money. the person who compiled that deserves to eat. the problem is as you say CORPORATE capitalism. workers gotta eat, too.
you can it's just a total bitch and waste of time and money. It is scientifically possible, you just would need shitloads and shitloads of bananas. I don't know about peanuts
I apologize, I didn't mean to jump to conlcusions without reading it first. I take back my former remark, however, I still feel it is stupid.
Why do I find that very hard to believe? --EDIT-- Nevermind, I just read the rest of your post, you do know more about anarchy than most of the people who have posted in this thread.
The mythical substance "bananadine" is exactly that--A MYTH. Smoking bananas will NOT get you high, period. Smoking "shitloads and shitloads" of ANYTHING might get you a "buzz", but it would be from LACK OF OXYGEN, not any kind of drug effect.
woah.... hold on a sec. smoking it? It said something about smoking it? I never heard anything about smoking it, just ingesting.
I re-read the posts and noone said anything about smoking it, and by the way... you are stupid. Banandine is real you idoit. It is even produced in your brain a little.
http://www.erowid.org/references/refs_view.php?ID=3819 There is, AFAIK, no chemical substance called "bananadine". Bananas do contain some amino acids and neurotransmitter precursors, but I have not heard of anyone who has found anything psychoactive in them. The substance you are thinking of may be DMT, which is a natural human neurotransmitter and a potent psychedelic if ingested properly. But again, AFAIK, it has NOT been found in bananas. It does occur in scores of other plants and animals, though. If you have an article showing DMT or another psychedelic in bananas, I would love to see it. Post a link, maybe?
A classic error is the recipe for extracting the drug bananadine from banana peels. The flaw is that bananadine does not exist; it was mentioned in the March 1967 Berkeley Barb as a joke but the Anarchist Cookbook took it seriously. [Reference: "Storming Heaven: LSD and the American Dream, p. 336, thanks to Lamont Granquist.] from a review of the old cookbook at http://www.righto.com/anarchist-cookbook-faq.html
From the second link I posted: Clicking the "full text" link on that page will bring up the entire paper, in which bananas were chemically analysed and nothing psychoactive was found. It's a .PDF, so I can't cut and paste a quote from it.
ellis is right. the man knows his chems. Bananadine is a Oracle? Barb? hoax perpetuated on the gullible...............
Yeah, i think it was the Berkeley Barb, who were curious if the authorities would try to make bananas illegal if they thought people could get high from them...
there is a movie coming out or was released of this name.. and isnt this sort of like the steal this book concept?! although i didnt read everybodys post, so i may be wrong..
well, the Anarchist cookbook has a few other chemicals, which if the names were shorter i would probably post it, but i dont want to waste my time on looking it up.
