Today's technology has made living easier that ever in the history of man. This has made human beings lazy and fat. we use to have to chop wood and carry water just to stay alive. Today we sit on the sofa and tell Seri to make the temp. 70 degrees or touch a faucet for water to get a drink. Muscular bodies were very normal years ago. Maybe not too muscular but at least not fat. IMO if I am going to take the effort to get out of the modern shlubby comfort zone so I could look a normal weight with a few natural muscles like a few decades ago then maybe it is like an almost lost art form.

Actually diet and exercise weren't that prominent 70 years ago. The average human wasn't real fat but not muscular either mostly for the reason you stated. The promoter of exercise early on in the television history was Jack LaLanne. He started exercising on the TV but wasn't widely accepted by the male population. Neither were the Mr. Olympia contestants but women loved them. So women started to get into shape with exercise. But the male worked, came home and watched TV, and ate. That was until the baby boomers decided disco dancing was the thing to do. From there aerobics exercise class sprang forth based on disco music and as women flocked to them and became fitter, men followed but with more masculine forms of exercise. Yet, we are fatter and softer than even before.

    Nothing beats the female form.
Course I might be bias :D
But seriously, the soft curves... smooth skin, widened hips... smaller frame.
Vs. Hard, sharp angles... large knees/shoulders... hair everywhere....
    It isn't even close.

I love the physical form of a woman that hits the gym.

For me... the natural form of the average nubile frame. If anything, just a little bit padded. I am not into the athletic/hard body of a gal that works out daily
    To each their own

I'm surprised that within this forum this question hasn't been opposed more. Some people have a type, a preference for a muscular body. Some people don't even have to try for that muscular body. Some people prefer thicker men, or women. Some people have no preference what so ever. I would say yes, only for you though because you are claiming that it took a lot of work (which I believe). However, I am so glad that I have a partner who views my current body as an art form without me needing to do anything further to please him. This doesn't keep me from working out, or wanting to become more healthy for myself, but I am confident in my body now regardless. Now for a different perspective now. I never had a body type preference.... Until I met my current fiancé. He loves to work out and be 'fit'. I now know that it is an art form because of how much he works to maintain his body. And my gosh dude. That is my new type. He isn't like 'jacked' or anything close to a body builder. But I will never argue with some muscular arms and a nice toned back. The things you don't really think about when you are talking about your prince charming when you are young. Okay, okay. So I guess yes. For those men who actively work on their bodies because of their desire for health, absolutely it is an art form.

I work out almost daily to keep my body thin and muscular. Not buff but no flab. My wife does the same thing. If the body is an art form we both enjoy fit art.

    Interesting debate this .

    Around 8 years ago I was 18st 6 pounds ,or 258 pounds ,or if European 117Kg . 40 inch waist:eek:

My weight currently is 12st 5 pounds ,or 173 pounds or 78 Kg .32 inch waist but I can fit 30 inch waisted jeans . For reference I am 5ft 10 and a bit;)

I do workout everyday and a lot of hard work is done. I do have nice Abs and toned in other areas and athletic legs .I hate the "dad bod" image I had for so long even after losing a lot of weight .So that had to go and it has .

However on saying all of this and whilst I can look at myself in a mirror with both eyes now :),I wouldnt say I was an art form . Well not to me me but maybe to others like my partner .

In my eyes the woman body will always beat the best male body . But that could be down to me being straight and not Bi or gay .

When I'm training towards an endurance competition my body will become leaner as I get closer to the event. Not exceptionally more muscular but I will run around 10 to 15 percent body fat. Basically I retain the muscle growth I already have maybe adding a little in my legs. When I get down or even close to that level I get a lot of compliments about how I look. That's due to the fat dissipation uncovering what I have underneath. (It also helps that I like to show off by wearing tight clothes when I'm looking that way.)

Massage therapists I see pay more attention to my torso when I'm at that level than as I am right now. I've had several compliment my physique over the years. I've challenged their comment responding that they say that to all the men they massage. I quickly get an answer that my body isn't like those men. They like massaging my fit and trim body.

An art form body is really a side benefit of all this training as the ultimate goal is peak performance come event day. But it sure is an ego boost when your sex partner looks at you with pleasure dancing in their eyes as they enjoy the muscles rippling under your skin. There's even a train of thought that the term "ripped" came from seeing the movement or ripples of muscles during body building competitions. But the term has other thoughts of it's origin also.
