I don't know much about this, maybe some of you could enlighten me...
I'm not trying to start a discussion as to the ethics of this, but more to be informative to anyone curious about it, such as myself.
Is this something that you can buy over the counter? Do you actually have to go to the doctor to get it? And you have to take it within like 2 or 3 days right?
    Does it make you sick?
Anyone out there ever try it?
    Thanks peoples.

You have to see a doc, it's for your own good, you have to take within 48 or better 24 hours after intercourse, and it can make you sick! I never had to try it, and I hopefully never will. You should never consider this pill as a form of contraception, it's only for emergencies!

you cannot get it over the counter in the u.s. i think the fda recently ruled against selling them otc.i think you can now, in canada.

there are actually several "morning after pills".

you can get them from your dr, or from planned parenthood.

shortly after i got married, while we were using condoms for birth control, the condom broke. i flipped out, because i was 18, we had just married, and more to the point, i was just beginning my recovery from an eating disorder. it would not have been healthy for me to get pregnant, and the baby, if i was able to carry it to term, would have likely been underwieght and sickly, as a result of my health problems. so i went to planned parenthood for emergency contraception. i was prescribed some bc pills that contained really high amounts of certain hormones. (can't remember what it was called) i had to take a ton of them over the course of like 12 hours. they didn't make me sick, but i was warned that they might.

you do have to take the pill/pills within the first 72 hours, the sooner the better. you also have to take them exactly as prescribed. you also must get the correct pills from the dr/planned parenthood. you cannot improvise by taking a bunch of your regular birth control pills.

altogether, i'm not sorry i did it. the odds are low that i would have gotten pregnant, but i wanted to wait to have a family, until i was physically and emotionally ready.

as someone stated, it should be looked on as a last resort, not a cure all for impulsively having unprotected sex. theoretically, you could still get pregnant, even after taking the morning after pill/pills.additionally, it was somewhat expensive.

yeah i have experience with the morning-after pill as well. i never got sick with them but i went to planned parenthood.. which is a good relief that they have that around here.. i think its not a horrible thing to take it because nothing is formed and who knows if you are, because i have heard some people believe it as killing a baby already.. i just think if you arent ready for a baby, go for it.. otherwise you gotta deal with the circumstances..

Of the diferrant brands/combinations out there the one called "Plan B" has gotten the best reviews from people who have taken it that I have heard of.

A friend of mine needed some and they do make you sick. But you get over it pretty quick.

For the Mormons, they don't believe in protected sex and for those who do believe in it, they still get pregnant. I don't get it.

I used the morning after pill before with out telling. I always have a perscription on hand you never know what can happen ya know it's smart with all the freaking predators in this world or in a relationship something happens with the condom, you never know when you'll need it.

the morning after pill doesn't kill babies. It prevents fertilization and implantation.

I'm gonna suggest you don't insult people who have to use the morning after pill and call them baby killers or bimbos, I don't think it will endear you to anyone here.

I haven't had to use the morning after pill, but then I like birth control such as the pill, which I'm lucky enough to be able to afford

DNA does not make a baby you know all.

First: While you have the right to your opinion, you do not have the right to slur anyone who thinks differently that you do.

Second: At four weeks, the cells of the EMBRYO not baby, haven't specialised yet. At five weeks the embryo is the size of a grain of rice at 5-13 millimetres.

Third: Remember that conception is counted 2 weeks before.

With all this, it's ludicris to call people baby killers when the embryo isn't formed enough to even officially or legally called it one. If you choose to call it for what it will be in the future then go for it, others see it for what is is now.

Look, maybe your partner had a termination or whatever and i don't much care. To be angry at others for something that isn't your business is a waste of your time.

But answer me this, what if a girl gets pregnant, what if she has no money, partner leaves, no family or any way of providing for this child. Is she supposed to have it to appease nosey people like you? Then be forced to give up the child for life or see it suffer in poverty? At least then you'd have gotten your way hey mate. Screw the baby hasn't enough food, screw the girl not ever seeing her child and all the misery. Sometimes, however hard a termination might be, it's the better option when the time is not right. Sometimes the mother and/or father ARE thinking of the child and what they can't provide that the baby should have. An embryo has no feeling, emotion, awareness. It does not care what happens. I think it's courageous to think of the child and make the desicion, when it would be easy to think of themselves and what they want.
Maybe you should stop thinking of yourself, from your attitude though, i suspect you don't do anything else.

You are completely irrational and won't get anyone to listen to you when you can't speak your mind calmly and evenly so stop trying you ignorant man.

Pardon my language, but what a pathetic bastard you are. Not one person on this earth would actually listen to you speak. You are filled with so much hatred and don't listen to any rival opinions. All of your references to female body parts, in graphic detail, say to me that you are nothing but a sleeze who takes pleasure in reciting it and nothing more. I suggest you read a book on vocabulary and manners. While you're at it, learn how to speak with an amount of ability not that of a seething child having a tantrum.

I would assume, that for someone your age you would've learned how to communicate your ideas, but instead, it's complete drivel and not worth the screen it is printed on. Go find another forum for your idiotic mindset and the abhorrent attitude that accompanies it.

So now this non-existent beby is a "he" i think this is a far too personal issue for you to think clearly. Everyone has a different perception of whatt they think a baby is at what stage. Some things aren't anything, until the decision is made to make it something and go forward with it. Your idea is yours but i refuse to accept the tone and attitude with which you deliver your "opinion" and it is only "your" opinion. What you are saying is not fact, merely opinion. Accept THAT. An embryo is a "possible baby", not a baby. It depends on what the parents decide to do.
