the biggest lie we live is that the universe exists for us, instead of itself. and that we're anything more then anything else in it.
close but no seeee-gar. everything the dominant culture tells us to think and believe is though. the appearance of solid matter is one if examined on a sufficiently microscopic level, but the forces which create that appearance are plenty real enough. real enough to keep our subatomic particles from passing through the spaces between theirs. symbolic value is an illusion we've inflicted on ourselves, because in some contexts it is convenient and useful to do so. our perception of something being inaccurate, does not make the thing perceived imaginary or non-existent. i would say instead of everything is an illusion is that what a large majority of humans think they know, is at best inaccurate.
what's sad is when it never occurs to someone to look beyond taking for granted what they're familiar with, whether that be their friends, enemies, ideologies or beliefs, or for that matter anything else. that is the purpose of art; to be iconoclastic.
