Grimm is most definitely obtainable in NYC, as is Singlecut and Other Half. The latter two have their breweries right in NYC, and they make phenomenal beers.
We've a friend over for a week and a bit. He bought this with him which we have since polished off half the bottle and it hit me like a ton of bricks before i fell asleep earlier this evening.
Glad you enjoyed the Heady Topper! Tough for something with so much hype to live up to the expectation.
Was finally able to get Westbrook. Local store here in nj had some. I was disappointed with the variety though. 3 different ipa's and a gose. I went with the regular IPA. Very good but like YFM says. It's not likely to live up to the hype. It actually reminds me of a ballast point IPA. This store is crazy. The beer isle is only 8 cold cases and one quarter of an isle but they always have the good stuff in Stock. I can't think of the last time I went in there and they didn't have something I have been wanting to try or something I never heard of that sounds awesome.
Their IPA is not even close to being their best beer, or even one of their best. You should have went with the gose.
I actually expected you to say that but the fact remains that sours are not my favorite style and the gose didn't sound any better than any other sources I have had. Maybe they are just not my type of brewery.
Their best beers are their bottle releases. Beers like Mexican Cake, Leopold (which you would not like as it is a sour), and their bourbon barrel-aged chocolate coconut almond imperial stout. Their best can releases are their Key Lime Pie Gose and Two Claw Rye IPA. Their White Thai and IPA are two of their weaker releases, with the IPA being very average.
The white Thai was one of them and if my memory is correct a Rye IPA was the 4th. No matter though. This does little to change my opinion of them. Until I try something I like normally that they make badly at least.
Got a 12 pack of stouts from Saugatuck brewing. Drinking "darker than your soul" solid beer but slightly too hoppy for my taste in stouts.
nothing much left of my festive ale.. going back to the rogue hazelnut brown nectar .. weaker beer but trash point level up a little, so I can hang longer..
Got a 4 of founders breakfast stout. I actually got some options for Christmas tomorrow. Founders, Westbrook, Saugatuck, flying dog, carton, and I got another 6er but left it at my other sisters house and can't remember what it was.
